Greetings from Keller, TX! I anxiously await the arrival of my S10 on Monday. Can't wait!! And what a great deal. I bought it used from a gentleman in Utah. It's LOADED with Jesse bags and lots of armor. I had a friend exchange cash for title and handle the shipping. He's a great friend deserving of a just reward.

I wouldn't normally step out like that, but I am prepping for a ride to Alaska/Arctic Circle in July and didn't trust either my 01 Shadow or 08 Versys to get me there and back comfortably (if at all). The S10 should do so in grand style. The ride is still a little intimidating (close to 8,000 miles in 2 weeks), but I now have the hardward to get it done. My rides to Vegas and Los Angeles seemed pretty long when prepping for them, but nothing compared to this. Glad I have time to get everthing squared away.

I will have to exercise a bit of patience (not my strong suit) as the first thing I am going to do is ship the seats off to Russel for a Day Long saddle. At least that will give me time to install all the electronics (CB/XM/GPS/iPod/fuse block/aux lights). Not being able to ride my new steed for 2 months will be rough! If anyone in Dallas area has a spare stock seat, I'd love to rent it for a while. You'd be my new bestest friend.

I look forward to lots of great advice on this forum. I have not had a chance to dive too deep, but will make time in the coming weeks.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new purchase! Post some pics of it when you get it please.

You might also consider the Super Tenere gathering planned for Whitehorse about the same time frame as your trip.

Good luck!

Welcome on, merchant. Welcome to the Forum and congrats on the new to you bike. sounds like it's nicely loaded. As Rod mentioned, since you're coming up this way, adjust your schedule so you can pass through Whitehorse during the Rally. Check the top right of the HOME page on this Forum for more info, and indicate your intentions if appropriate. I hope to see you there. Again, ::004:: . R ::022::

Wow! Thanks to all for the welcome messages. I feel like part of the family already. I have a decent pic of the new ride on my hard drive, but can't see how to post. I'll work on that.

The bike will arrive in Dallas Monday morning. Great story...I bought it from a gentleman (and I mean that sincerely) in SLC. I called a friend in SLC who handled swapping money for title and even shipped it to me. That's what you call a true friend. I owe him BIG time. Good thing I will see him next month at an industry function.

It kills me that the bike will sit in the garage all week. No plates. I have to work all week, so have to wait until Saturday to get the plates.

Thanks for the invite to the Tenere meet and greet. Don't know that I'll be able to attend. We're on a pretty tight schedule. Dallas to the Arctic Circle and back in 17 days is a pretty tall order. If not too far off the route, I will try and swing by for a cameo.

Welcome to the asylum! I think you made the right choice for your trip to Alaska. I hope you enjoy the Tenere as much as I enjoy mine.

Funny you say asylum, Buckeye. I live on Alyssum Drive (pronounced a-liss-um). Everyone wants to call it "asylum", which it probably closer to the truth.
