i`m currently on holiday in france & the S10 has started mis behaving. On part throttle ie rolling off the gas going up hill, part throttle in town or openig the throttle after being on the over run going down hill in a low gear the engine appears to mis fire, it isnt poping & crackling through the exhaust though, it just seems to hesitate.
I have tried to reset the ECU bu removing / replacing the FI & ECU fuse as in the hard start issue. Initiailly this seem to fix ithe problem but the problem has re occured today & removing the fuses didnt appear to work. Also checked various connector for sensors under the tank for wet / poor connection but none found.... does anyone have any ideas what to try next or have they had the same or similar issues?

will try the bike again in the morning to see if it ws just a poor earth on the battery or sensors or earth strap....fingers crossed

Check the battery terminals are snug.

Otherwise, as I imagine you have seen some rain recently, I would suggest it's the coil sticks. maybe water has got past the seals, down around the plugs.

It's a bit of a PITA to check out sadly, unless you have access to decent service facilities, so I hope it's something more simple.

Hope you can find the culprit. Have a good ride over there ....................... KEN

cheers Ken, it was like a pressure washer on the M25 on Friday but problem didnt start until Sunday afternoon. Checked battery this evening, had the tank lifted in the street & checked all electrical connections, all seemed clean & dry so if no better in the morning maybe it time to lift the tank again & look at the pencil coils. I didnt bother today as the tech at my dealers has commented a couple of times on how good the fit is on my bike compared to some. ::003::

If the idle is not shooting off crazy around 2500rpm plus then it is likely a wet coil or a corroded coil. Check right most coil n plug.

I did the battery disconnect & all was fine, for about 2 days.symptoms did re occur but disappeared again after switching off when topping up the fuel & all was fine again. I`m now back home again so I will investigate further at the weekend.

I had the same problem in Geneva coming from Dublin (Ireland)It turned out to be bad coils ,I lifted the tank and changed over one coil in each cylinder and put in new spark plugs with some fuel additive ,it was the best I could do in Geneva (time and MONEY :lamp: .It ran ok but if your putting the bike under pressure ie. up hills It felt like a V twin .I got home and put in 4 new coils and it running better then ever hope this helps.

hi All

been having the same sort of problems so had a look on the forum for other fixes etc.

came across this one :-http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=12376.msg199598#msg199598

tried this today and it works ::013::

running smooth, maybe not a cure all but a cheap option to try before laying out for parts.

my instinct says coils...i had the exact same problem while in spain on a 1098 on track, nearly spit me off. Jerky throttle, on/off. Turned out to be a dodgy coil.

Some silicone grease did...until it rained again. To say its annoying is like saying Stalin could be a bit of a bully. Found some info on the AVB forum & its quite a common issue it seems & the silicone is only a temp fix. LOved the bike but this was irritating as fuck & more than a PIA when cranked over in a bend .. I wasnt prepared to spend £500 on new bits & find out i`m back to square on in 12 / 24 months time or what ever so I got rid
