"talking to a mechanic who works at my local bmw bike shop ...he was saying bmw are having "big" problems with there watercooled 1200 ..just after 600 mls the gearboxes are going bang [ he said it was down to a seal going & the box running "dry" ]....he said they have had "6" back in in the last month ....but of course you,ll not hear anything about it from the press , who are all in bmw,s pocket ...and when it does come out bmw will not do a recall but fix them & say they dont have a problem .....so much for bmw testing there new models before they go on sale .."

The bit about the seal going and the "box" running dry sounds a bit sus. I thought they had finally moved to the "one oil to rule them all" like almost everyone else had been doing for 30 years. Wouldn't a blown seal (which there was a recall in Canada about) would drain the whole engine and gearbox.

No need for gloating, if it is true, it will be well known soon enough. Plus, we paid a whole lot less, so we still came out on top. ::025::
Anyway, if Audi can have cylinder head problems, why can't BMW have seal problems?
