About 44,000 of the 93,000 miles on my S10 were done with non motorcycle oils. 20,000 of those miles were with Rotella T4 15W-40, and 24,000 of them were with O'Reilly Auto 10W-40. I had an oil analysis done by Blackstone Labs this year at 88,965 miles. The analysis showed that the levels of wear metals present in my oil were low next to averages for a bike of mine's age and mileage, and their opinion was the internal parts were getting along well. At the time of the analysis, just about half the accrued miles were on non motorcycle specific oils, and about a quarter of them were with Rotella diesel oil. If Rotella diesel oil had an adverse effect on the moving parts of an engine, I think 20,000 miles would have been enough to at least display an above average amount of wear on those moving parts.
I stopped using Rotella several years ago, mainly because the oil I was using (the T4 10W-40 non synthetic) dropped their API certification for gasoline engines.
I did find out very recently that Rotella now offers a product called T4 15W-40 NG Plus, which does carry the API certification for gasoline engines (along with diesel and natural gas engines). I've never seen it in a store, and I couldn't find any information on whether it carried the JASO MA/MA2 certification.
