Integrated tail light!

Today I finally completed my project of an integrated light on my Ténéré. There is no off the shelf assembly for the Ténéré so I had to make mine from an R6 retrofit board.

The original light only has a few LEDs in it, and I never thought it was especially bright.

The Custom LED Blaster-X has quite a few more LEDs on the board. (This was during my testing)

I got it all hooked up and tried it out. It appears I need to get a different flasher

The Tenere uses resistors and a standard flasher. So short of having to install and change the flasher, it's a direct fit from the R1?

Right, it flashes a bit fast right now. The resistor is removed, as it's built into the blaster.

I'm going to find the correct flasher and will update. I also plan on adding some flush mount indicators to the side of the rear fender, to cover the hole, and allow some visibility from the side.

Good job. Personally, I'm not a fan of those because I think it's harder for others to see your signals.

The wife told me on the ninja (same brand of light) that the signals and brake lights are more visible.

I understand that someone may not see which way on a normal integrated light, this actually turns off the one side that is signaling, which I like. As I said, I'll also be adding something (low profile) on the side

Whoa... If I still has my 2012 Tenere I would love this but my 2014 ES with a Supabrake is... well close.
I'm impressed. Great work!

Thanks guys! I bought the parts a few months ago, in the hopes that the R6 piece fit in the tenere housing. The OEM board is the same part, it appears that the only difference is the lens, there is a piece that points backwards on the tenere, and it's forward on the R6.

I just found a $12 flasher, so on Tuesday, the project will be complete!

I'm going to wire these in the next time it warms up, too bad I have to tear the back end apart again to get to the wires.

I think I like it!

I like the turn signals but are wondering if they are street legal. Don't the turn signals have to be a certain distance from the tail light?

Well, it's more to fill the hole, and show something to the side.

I either need working signals in michigan, or hand signals. I usually do both anyway.

They do have to be a certain spread, but I can't imagine ever getting in trouble about it.

I prefer the stock set-up as it works well and the Tenere isn't a 'looker' anyway.
I've spent too much money and time on custom or aftermarket lighting on other bikes to give a crap anymore!

I was ok with stock until I melted it with my exhaust.

Plus I now have the brake light flasher, and much brighter tail, brake and signals

I'm not going to change my lighting, but I am going to ADD a brake light to my trunk. Something like a Knight Riderz.
Cars have a third brake light. Surprised motorcycles don't have a similar requirement.

Most of the newer rice rockets are this way. See it a lot in SoCal. But I guess it would be illegal in that the bike did not come that way from the factory (modifying safety equipment doesn't get the "pass" in the vehicle code book like engine mods). Doubt any police (I know I wouldn't) would care. Heck this is more visible than some of those rice rockets.

Finally got them wired up. I like this, super bright behind, with good side visibility .
