I don't bother with S mode at all now, as that is the mode that stumbles mid range.

I use T mode for two up-friendly riding, off road riding and for when I want to use cruise control, which requires T mode for smoothness and and the bike not the think the clutch is pulled in, lest the cruise control disengages.

When I want a bit of grunt, I just switch in the clutch switch short. I can do this at any time, unlike S and T mode switching which requires the throttle to be closed. However, because there can be a slight difference in revs for a given throttle position I only short the clutch at steady state speeds.

put the fuse in when i picked up my bike. never looked back. did have a switch for a couple months but never used it. so took it off and the dirtbike got a new kill switch!

ride in all kinds of terrain and like that i get what i want by my throttle input.

never experienced the snatchiness that some complain about with the fuse installed.

i also turn TC off except to use TC2 for wet roads, rain or real loose off road.

that combination suits me fine.

If you don't want to be able to switch back and forth and want this mod to be always on, then you simply short the two wires together permanently. One way of doing this is to discconect the connector from the clutch and put a fuse between the two wires at the connector.
The amazing thing is you don't even need to disconnect the connector. A mini fuse slips in next to it and shorts it out. (But don't ask me exactly where it goes... I just pushed somewhere and it went right in.) 50 cents and 5 seconds and it feels like a new bike. And if you ever want to go back to stock, just pull it out.

I wouldn't repeatedly insert/remove a fuse and wear out the connector. But no switch for me; I can't stand Touring mode. And I used the handlebar space for something more important (fog light switch).

I also find touring mode pretty useless 99 percent of the time. But it's nice insurance when riding slick roads with the temps hovering around freezing.

Okay, "Tech-Heads", this seems pretty simple but I want to be sure. Got the switch and the plugs (thanks everyone for suggesting sources). If I wire it up in this fashion then no splicing into OEM wiring is required and this can just be put in between the clutch and the wire? In doing so, the original wire and plug can be reconnected at anytime (eg: dealer servicing). Appreciate your comments (from where I pieced this together in the first place).

Make up a few hundred and they'd sell on here like hotcakes. I've wired my switch, but if you want to make an extra, I'd buy it. Love plug-and-play.

Now there's an entrepreneurial idea! Maybe I can get one of my teenage sons to work in the garage for a weekend on a bunch so they quit bugging us for play money.
By the way. I have received the switch, but not the Hitachi plugs. In looking at them again, I may have ordered the wrong ones. Two wires means two holes right? In closer examination, the OEM ones that connect to the clutch are actually 3-holes, with the center one not used. Crap - I hate the details. Don't make this mistake.

Yes indeed. They are 3-way connectors using just the outer positions. Caught me out to start with as well. :)

The switch lay-out with a 3-HOLE Hitachi plug ... like it should be. Seems like I am not the only one to ASSume 2 wires means 2 holes. The garage light is dim?

Did this before a big ride. Much better in the tight stuff when you are using the lower gears. Thinking the re-flash would be worth it as it also modifies the fueling and timing. Had no problem with snatchy throttle.

That's exactly how mine is, which also gives you the benefit of retaining the clutch safety switch when the switch is in the "off" position.

Has someone posted up the source/part-nos for the two electrical clutch connectors for a plug-n-play setup? If so, I've missed them. Does Easter Beaver have them?

Yep. Go back through the thread or google "Hitachi motorcycle connectors".

Europe .... Made in Texas
I got a bunch of various configurations of the Hitachi style plug from ebay .... I'm going to wire mine into a micro switch mounted on my HDB bar clamp.

Yes, they are buried in this thread somewhere. That is how I learned about them and subsequently ordered them. I ordered 4 ea of the male and 4 eac of the female to allow for screwing up during assembly (during my assembly, that is). The switch came out nice, and like I said before, if you use the plug in model you retain the clutch safety feature.
