There is a nut on the bottom of the power out let. The nut requires a pin wrench or barring that a small, well placed flat blade screwdriver. Just a push on the screwdriver handle and the nut will turn, no big problem.

Good Luck

I used a flat blade and got it to move. I spent a long time installing this, but luckily it was rainy all last week. I also had to loosen off some of the Tupperware on the front. It was the first time for me doing that, I got to see how everything hooked together.

Are we talking about the underside as in the very bottom where the wire goes in, or like that little indentation to the side right under the panel? They certainly don't make this too easy.

the bottom of the cigarette socket, there is a plastic threaded collar, not really shaped like a nut. it has vertical cuts in it for a proper wrench, or a subtle vice grip, I could not get anything to work except a flat bladed screwdriver. A couple taps and I could unscrew it with my fingers. Then I pushed the socket up higher and wiggled and pushed the dash panel until it could fit and then reverse the process.

So you're referring to those 4 vertical cuts that the outlet looks to thread into? Messed with it more last night and dang are they hard to get to lol. Do the indentations need to be pushed in or what?

May end up just asking the dealer next time I have the bike in, then I can do the rest.

My socket had this nylon ring threaded into the bottom, when it is unscrewed, it falls down onto the wire, and you can push the socket up and move it freely. Just makes sure you are going lefty loosey since it is upside down, it should unscrew with some effort

Right.
Easy to see and understand with a small mirror and light.
