Added the Visionx Solo lights. Pretty bright.
Here's my 16 year old checking out the bike with the lights on.

The install wasn't too bad once you figured out what wires to use. I also tend to solder things together so I don't have to revisit a bad connection somewhere.

I debated where to physically place the lights and I considered the crash bars, but the mounts were already available under the cowling. I just needed a couple of longer bolts to hold the bracket on. I connected them up through the fz1 fuse box as well. I haven't tried them at night yet.

I'm not sure if the lights on the bike did that. :-\
My older son (Andrew) had just brought out the camera from the house where it was frigid (A/C was cranking). As soon as it hit the hot, humid air I think the Lens fogged up. I didn't realize it until after a couple of shots. 8)

Still, they appear to be very bright. I'll probably only use them on the darkest roads. ;)

Nah, it's not the foggy lens... They are definitely bright little suckers.

Here's 2 lights:

Here's 3 lights:

Exceptionally bright and white aux lighting, and a very welcome safety addition in my Kangaroo infested area at night..

Greg.

nice job! They look great. Can you show some pics of wiring set up and mounting? I am about to do the same when I get my bike.

did you add the dimmer or is that full tilt? I plan on using the same schematic. What wire did you tap into ?

The solo lights don't have the dimmer, so I'm full tilt (in more ways than you think ;) )

I have battery power to the fz1 fuse box and I tapped into a green wire that powers the pilot lights on the headlight. You have to take off the upper cowling on the battery side to get to it. That's the trigger when you turn your key on.

Run power to the battery and ground and connect the switch to the relay. Mine is back together, and I'm sorry but no pictures.

Thanks, I have done many of them, I was just trying to see which wire you used if any was handy. The last one I did the same thing, jumped off the headlight for my switched wire. I was thinking of using the power aux they have set up for lighting. I'll have to see which one is switched out of the three. I did not buy the dimmer either. My intention is to lights on nearly all the time. I feel it does the trick keeping left turning cages at bay.

Clem, you can use the wiring harness supplied with the lights which connect to: the battery, the lights, and the switch, all via the supplied relay. If you'd like, you can attach the battery leads to the OEM optional auxiliary lights plug which is tucked under the tool kit. It's the triangular triple plug. Eastern Beaver has matching plugs, or you may be able to use the female plug cover on the plug to make your own. Another posted that he opted to connect to the square four wire optional grip heater supply which is next to the aux light plug because it is only energized when the engine is running. I emailed Eastern Beaver and he is checking to see if he can acquire a male and female connector for the OEM headlight wiring harness. If he can get me one, I may just make my own adapter to use the headlight circuit so that my Solo LED's will operate in conjunction with my headlight. That would eliminate the need for an additional relay all together. I think that the circuit could handle the load fine since the Solo's are LED and use less than 2 amps total.

thanks Paul, that was my plan to use the plug and play port by the tool kit. Do you know which one is switched?

I like the wider placement of the lights. I may mount mine down by the forks. I like the triangle position the best for being seen. When I get my bike...

Mounted mine on Altrider bars but I got issues with the bars. Waiting to hear from them.
What's the problem with the AltRider bars? I know they have had some quality control issues. They switched fabricators recently. <shrug>

Your lights up on the bars look great ! How do you like them at night? Do you feel the LED produce ample extra light for you ?

Digitalmoto I posted up a thread on the bars they are not made symmetrical to the bike.

Tabasco I am going to have to move them down a little bit and make up a bracket that goes from the mount to the light. They don't fit well where I put them because the bars are not the same. As for the light they are brighter on the road than they headlights so they work well.
