Gentlemen, This plug appeared from the top of the crankcase after blowing out dust and dirt. It is approx. 10mm in diameter.

I am at a loss as to where it came from. And little or no chance it came from another bike or process.

Looks like the rubber bumper between gas tank and upper side shrouds. There's one of them on each side.

I believe you are correct! I noted that opening in the left cowling, but was more concerned with the laundry list of maintenance...till that plug magically appeared during the blowdown. It was quite dusty, so I think it had been lying down in the low areas of the crankcase for some time.

I owe you two beers now.

Yup, it's the little bumper to prevent the rear upper part of the side fairing touching the fuel tank. I found one of those in the battery compartment. Took me a while to figure out where it came from.

Appreciate it fellas. I hate loose ends when preparing for a ride. Rolling out to Seattle next week from Florida and didn't really want some errant item 'unplugged'. This one was a simple one.

After finishing a valve inspection and most of the other big maintenance items this week, I truly appreciate the knowledge I have gained from this site.

Cheers,
Randy
