Indeed. I'm sure our STens can handle a 7th gear.
Then you can cruise at 180km/h at 4k rpm!

An extra gear would be great. I’m always looking for one once I get above 70mph on the interstate. Would certainly help the gas mileage too. Normal riding I average 45-47mpg (calculated by me not the cluster). On the interstate above 70mph that drops drastically which is to be expected but annoying. I would love to be able to get 45mpg at 80mph but I don’t think that’s possible on my s10. It seems to be most efficient around 3500 rpm.

Is that going by the Yamaha mpg thing or by figuring it out on paper ?
Just the dash readout. I do believe that the computer is showing the accurate mpg. Where it gets inaccurate is with the average readout. 'Cuz, when we coast down to a stop sign, it shows 99.9mpg. Well, when that number gets factored in to the avg, it shows optimistic. But on the highway, with the cruise set, and minimal city driving, the avg shown will be very close to that of doing the math. I learned that on my Jeep going to AZ. What it showed was what I got. But throw stop and go in there, and it will be about 2mpg optimistic compared to doing the math.

It was rare when I'd get close to that and those were times I did long stretches at about 50 mph. Nice flat constant 60-ish would usually be in the low to mid 50s.
I also failed to advise that I didn't have boxes mounted. Throw the boxes on, and yeah, mileage drops like a rock.
