Hey all, I'm looking into a new helmet and a lot of people have told me the Icon is a great helmet. My question is, what is the fitment like? Long oval head or round head? I tried on a few of my friend's Icon helmets (a mainframe and an airframe) both in a large and they didn't fit the top of my head whatsoever. Icon says the Airframe is a medium oval and the Variant is a long oval, so I'm thinking it should fit better, but I just wanted some suggestions with people that own the helmet. No dealers in my area (including the one I work at) have an Icon Variant in stock..

Last year at the other shop I worked at, they gave away a Variant at christmas time. It was a Medium which felt tiny but fit the shape of my head better. As a size comparison for my head, a large Arai XD4 is really snug but fits well and is comfortable to an extent. Would go with an XL.

Thanks!

I've owned two Icon Variant's and they are great helmets...after about 500 miles. I'd say the shape is right in the middle and have a very tight initial fit. I bought my first one online and when I got it and tried it on I was a little pissed because it felt like I should have ordered the XL. However, it wasn't bad enough that I felt that I had to return it so I decided to keep it since I knew it would give a little over time. I'm glad I did because after about 500 miles or so it fit like a charm. To be honest the first malfunctioned after about 1500 miles and Revzilla gave me a new one that I've used maybe 3 times since I also got the Shark helmet which is awesome. I'm not sure what color you're planning on but I initially got the matte black, which looks great, but it's really hard to keep clean and any scratches will show in white and sticks out like crazy. I ended up getting the white one the second time around and got all three visor with it as well. If you're interested and large is your size maybe we can work something out.

As soon as I can try one on, I might be interested. I'm pretty sure I'll need the XL though.

I have a Icon Variant and love it. Came off wearing an Arai RX7RR4 ( long oval fit). I have very little trouble with the visor, except in extreme head winds. Fit is great but as already stated, it may take a little while for it to break in.
Overall I highly recommend this helmet for anybody with the right shaped head.

Well I still haven't found one nearby to try on.. but a local Honda dealer had a Speed and Strength SS2500 in stock, I tried it on in a large and have never had a helmet fit me so well. And it's about half the price.. I ordered one in the Lunatic Fringe scheme with a mirrored shield, should be here hopefully by the end of this week.

Does anyone know if the Icon Variant fit inside the Yamaha Top Case of the Super Tenere?

Hey rednekK20, Would love to hear a report on that SS2500, I tried one on today. They only had a XL was a bit too big but overall felt good. It's a SS2500 or a Aria XDM4 ($300 diff) Just interested hearing from an actual user. Thanks.
