I've been lurking for a while on this site and other Super Tenere forums. I took a test ride the other day and I think that I swallowed hook, line, sinker and the bobber too! Now I really want one badly.

I've been a long time ST1300 rider but I have a lot of dirt in my blood. I can't help but thrash the XR650R for my dirt fix. I love to explore but the ST1300 has held me hostage to the pavement. After the first test ride of the XT1200, I can't believe it weighs as much as they claim it does. It felt like a feather compared to the ST1300 and just as light as the WeeStrom. I am impressed. I want one so badly....

For those who want to taunt me with your XT1200 for a while, I will be holding FerrySTOC 3 during the weekend of May 17-20, 2012 at Paris Landing State Park. Come join us for the ride and watch me drool if you have a Super Tenere. This was originally started at an st-owners ride for sport touring but I have added ADV style rides for those who want to sample some of the offbeat paths. I can't think of a better ride for this event than the Super Tenere....after all, it's as ST too! It's not about what you ride as much as it is about the ride. Good people, good times and a decent location to hit all of the ferries in the 4 rivers region. More info available at http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?106882-FerrySTOC-3-May-17-20-2012 or http://theicedevice.com/pages/ferrySTOC

Sold a HD Fatboy and bought the Super Tenere with a goal of replacing the HD, my Honda ST1300 and KLR with one motorcycle. Great choice and have not regretted the decision for a moment.

My only problem is that I can't bring myself to sell the ST1300 or the KLR. They each have their purpose.

I am looking for an appropriate 12 step program to combat my addiction.

Welcome on, TreeMuncher. Heh heh heh .. yep, never should have gotten on that boy. Oh well, can't do anything about it now. It's just a matter of time. I was fortunate enough to keep my ST1300 (2009). I love 'em both, but you're right about the XT. Mine is in Calgary right now. I'm flying down to ride it back in about 2 weeks. Can't wait. ::004:: R ::022::

Welcome, Treemuncher. My ST1300 perished before its time, assaulted by a Land Rover. I miss certain aspects of the comfy mile-eater but the Super Tenere is great!

MBS has no effective program. ;)

I've paired the stable down by 2. I'm keeping the R1 and the T Max is for the Mrs. even though I own most of the miles on it. :D

I had a guy interested in the FJR so I got it all cleaned up and went for about a two hour ride before meeting him to look at it. After the ride, I hoped the guy wouldn't call back (he didn't) 'cause I realized what a great road bike it is. I'm keeping the FJR, it's just a wee bit better than the Super Ten on the asphalt. I doubt I could ever sell the Super Ten though except to get another one.

Sounds like a fun ride. Maybe I can get there from Arkansas. I sold my trusty ST1300 and now ride the Super T. You have time to make the change before your ride in May. You won't regret it. The Super T is very light compared to ST1300. Welcome.

Welcome!

Sold a 2011 HD Limited for the S10 and I have no regrets. I still have HD Road King all tricked out, but I really do like the S10. It's a fun machine.

I stopped by the local dealer a few days ago and they tried really hard to get me to ride one.
I resisted cause I know how it would be if I did, but I'm still tempted, maybe next week.

I finally came out of the closet and revealed that I had purchased a Super Tenere last month over on ST-owners.com. I thought that I should also share the info here as have been silently checking out a lot of posts here. Nothing more to hide....the Tenere is an awesome ride an suits me perfectly so far.

"I am a motorcycle addict. There, I admit it. And because of this addiction, I have purchased another ride that I have kept hidden from most for the past few weeks, including during FerrySTOC. My intent was to surprise my best friend from childhood after he invited me to join him at Americade. So, for the past 6+ weeks, I have kept the news of the new ride secret so that he would not find out about it via the internet. My plan worked, but when I showed up in the dark at 11 PM, the sound was a dead give away from a distance. He knew it was no sewing machine coming down the road. The new ST sounds nothing like my old ST, more like a Ducati than much anything else.

Between taking delivery on May 5, 2012 until 2:30 AM this morning on my inbound arrival, I have managed to put on 5717 miles on this bike. 4054 of that was done from Wednesday June 6 until Friday June 15, 2012 for an average of 450 miles per day. During this little 9 day ride, I did the Iron Butt to Americade, toured some of the Adirondacks, explored storm ravaged areas of Vermont, visited DParker's work place in NH, rode the Kangamangus Hwy, climbed Mt Washington Auto Road, rode across Maine on US Hwy 2, toured Acadia Natl Park, explored rural dirt roads in down east Maine and through the blueberry barrens, met with Bones in my home town and did another IB ride back home. And no, I have not had enough of it yet. I can't wait for NatSTOC and the explorations that I will be able to do out that way. There are some buttes off in the distance in Montana that are on my agenda - dirt roads are the only way to get there and I did not have the heart to force the ST1300 down such roads. My 2 wheeled version of my Subaru WRX awaits the challenge.....

I think that I have found motorcycle nirvana because I am no longer chained to pavement on long distance rides. I have a lot of dirt in my blood (I used to have an excavating business if that is a clue) and I can never get enough of the off highway riding. Explore, explore, explore. NatSTOC offers some great motorcycle roads but exploration is limited to just a few roads with the ST1300 as almost all side roads out there are dirt. This year, with dirt on the menu, NatSTOC should provide some memorable rides into the unknown. The new bike? It's another ST....a Super Tenere. It just has more punch than the Wee Strom when I want to pass or pull a steep hill. It's almost as easy to ride as the Wee but it has the blur factor like the ST1300 to keep my attention

Thanks to Mellow for making me drool, lust and desire a new ride that I did not want or need. You cost me a sizable chunk of change, Fearless Leader......but maybe nirvana is worth it. I feel like I have found freedom. No constraints to distance nor surfaces to be ridden. Pack the big mule for the long haul and head out to where ever. One up or two makes no difference. I'm not ready to sell off the ST1300 yet, but it is not going to be ridden as many miles this year as it was the past few. I'll deal with a few more vibes and less wind protection for more freedom.

Now that the secret has been revealed, don't be surprised when I show up on a WRX Blue ST!

Yeah, I am really diggin' this bike. Thanks Yamaha ::012::
