Hello all,
New to the forum and the model. I just recently bought Mayberts Super. Man what a great bike. Flew down to Santa Rosa from Washington and rode her home up Hwy 1 and 101. I had planned to buy the new Triumph Explorer but with the crappy off road reviews and the great deal I got on this I had to betray my old 2000 triumph tiger. She is pissed she got moved from the garage into the shed and is pouting abit. I suppose it was fate I would get a yamaha some day the first bike I ever wanted was a Yamaha TDM 850 before they quit selling it.

I look forward to reading forum posts and getting to know you guys.

James

P.s What seems to be the best seat options for bigger guys, the stock one sucks!!!!!

Welcome to the club!

The ST is great, and my Tiger (a 1050) is also pouting as I have to split my riding time between them. I had a TDM850. Great bike! I have dibs to buy it back if the current owner ever sells.

For seats....well they are real personal, but you could probably not go wrong with with having BMS rework you seat, or the new Russel that comes out in a few weeks (looks like the BMS - which is good - and cheaper). Corbins are nice as well, especially if you like hard seats. The seat pans tend to be a bit fiddly to fit. Or you could try the seat bumper mod first - which lowers the rear of the seat - these seats are slanted down towards the tank (the the GS's) and are a might uncomfortable after a bit, especially for the 'boys'.

Welcome James ::004::

WA seems to be a Super Tenere Hot Spot. Good people riding good motorcycles.

Welcome! Great bunch of guys here and LOTS of knowledge.

Your choice of seat may narrow down a bit if you tip the scales at 220 - 230+ lbs. BMS will point you to a Russell if you fit this category. Russell has the ability to build for us portly guys, where BMS does not. Yes, Russell is more expensive (and not waterproof), but I like mine a lot. Put on a pot of coffee and search the forum. You'll find a lot of discussion on this topic.

nwdiver,
I came oh so close to snapping Mayberts bike up. That is a really well outfitted bike! My schedule just didn't allow the time it would have taken. But I ended up trading my MG Norge for a new Tenere from Power Sports in Sublimity, OR.

After the HoH ALtRider ride, my wife says, um I don't want to see or hear of or you ask about another ride on the bike for some time!!!! I guess a week trip w dad in July, leaving our family vacation 2 days early for a CHelan ride, an 8 hr 300 mile ride one Sunday, and the HOH ride staying two overnights while she was tending solo to my 20 month old daughter was just about enough since July 1st.
So, Mr. Glen, I would be happy to go on the ride, but only if you can convince the Mrs. I can do this, then I can go. Hmm, maybe she could drive the truck with daughter and pick those berries!!!

So, YOU'RE the one?! ;D New owner myself, but I missed out on Maybert's by hours...literally! You got a great deal, and were a lot closer than me anyway. I'm new to the forum, too, so we can learn together. ::008::

Welcome to the group. Glad you were able to get Mayberts bike and keep it in the family here. I just had my seat done by James Renazco and it is much better.
