Ordered a Raven a couple of weeks ago. Anyone else from N. Dakota on the forum? I bought a WR250R back in '08 and as far as I know, I'm still the only person in Western N. Dakota who has one of those. Lonely out here for dual-sporters, although there is a DS club in the Black Hills of S. Dakota. Anyways, good to see there's a website for the S10. I expect it will get a lot more active once our bikes start arriving.

Welcome from Tampa Scoobynut. I think there are quite a few members with WRs. ND would seem to be great ds country.

Thanks for the welcomes, guys. ND is good dual-sport country. Unfortunately most everyone out here in the Western part of the state who rides is trying to live out some kinda Easy Rider chopper fantasy. Oh well. I get the dirt roads all to myself!

Scoobynut,

Welcome to the forum! I have ridden across ND several times and find it ot be a beautiful state. I bet the DS opportunities are fantastic. Maybe someday I will check that out on the S10.

Hi there,
I lived in Rugby ND with my family from 1955-1961 when I left home and joined the Navy. I've been back a few times since then and visited Rugby for a couple of days two summers ago. Rugby is dead center between Minot and Devils Lake on U.S. 2. Lots of gravel up there when I was a kid. Probably a great place for DS and cow tipping :p

I have heard more than a few people say that. I guess they get to Mount Rushmore in S. Dakota and figure that's the end of the line!

I grew up in Minot! Got there in 1973 with the Air Force (my Dad was a missile security officer). Rugby was the first place I ever worked, back in 1979, travelled to Rolla every day. For those of you who don't know, Rugby claims to be the geographical center of North America. Still lots of gravel roads and cow-tipping happening in those parts...

Didn't get to Minot in those days - 60 miles back then, might as well be going 'round the world, but around Christmas of 1959 my friend's mother took us there to see a concert...Patsy Cline, Leroy Van Dike (Just Walk on by), and Bobby Helms (Jingle Bell Rock). Seeing Patsy is something I will remember always...Had a childhood friend who I think lives on Rolla.

There's a very nice ride through the south unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Medora is situated right by the entrance to the park. The town puts on a western musical nightly during the summer at a natural outdoor amphitheatre built into the buttes and bluffs of the Badlands. Definitely give it a try if you get up this way, it's only a short 200 mile ride north from the Black Hills.

Here's a photo I shot of the Badlands near Medora and the amphitheatre while out riding the Buffalo Gap trail on my mountain bike last summer:

Yeah, I guess the world did seem like a bigger place in those days. I had no idea Patsy Cline was in Minot, pretty impressive you saw her in person!

Looks like some great off-roadin' fun up there. Welcome to the board.

Thanks, Kevin. I've only ridden the KLR on this terrain a little bit, but plan on exploring more of it this summer. There's more Badlands terrain outside the Nat'l park than in it, so I'll have to do a ride report one of these months.

BTW, have bought a fair amount of KLR products from TT. Will be buying more shortly. Great service at Twisted Throttle for those of you who haven't bought from them...

A Ride Report would be awesome! I look forward to it. Thanks for being a customer and saying nice things about us.

We rode through there the last time we went to Hyder Seek. It was raining and really windy, cold too so I don't recall much about the area. I have stopped at the T. Roosevelt NP twice. I bet there are lots of great roses to explore on a DP bike. Too many cool places to go see and not nearly enough vacation time!

Ah, the wind...sometimes it can be so fierce up here on the plains that you don't want to even get on your bike. Then again, some of the nicest summer days I've ever seen have been in N. Dakota. I've seen -91 degrees wind chill in the winter and 117 above in the summer. Quite the range of temps...
