I just went a little over 20 miles after the fuel light started flashing and the odometer started counting. I'm sure that is no where near the record. How far have you gone on reserve?

I've worked out that with mine, the reserve light comes on with about 6 litres (1.5 gallons) left in the tank. I've gone about 75 kms (46 miles) on reserve and filled up with 21 litres, which means there was 2 litres (1/2 gallon) left.

That is pretty much my math. With just over 20 miles on reserve I put 5 gallons in so I had one left.

I figure that I have a safe range of 40 miles after the low fuel warning comes on.
So far that plan has worked every time .

I have both refuled when the reserve light began flashing, and run bone dry. When my light comes on, I can add only 4.5 U.S. gallons. When "bone dry", I can only add 6.0 gallons of the stated 6.5 (?) gallon capacity.

The start of the reserve to flashing to "out of gas" for my bike was 65 miles.

There was another topic on this somewhere, a few people have done a run-dry test and I think it was about 50 miles, I would go with a fairly easy 40 (Unless your flat out) and maybe 60 if you slowed down to a steady 50mph.

I think they also managed a proper 24L fill, I have had some bikes where the engine will die with 1-2L still in the tank which misleads whenever you fill up thinking you have a 5L reserve and can get another 50 mies, just to run out 25 miles down the road.

Once the light comes on I assume an easy 40 miles, but will stop at the next opportunity unless I know 100% there is another fuel station on my route that will dfinately be open.

I recall getting circa 50 miles from mine when we discovered no gas stations open in France on a Sunday afternoon but it was getting a bit too close for comfort. I try to ensure that don't get that low for obvious reasons ...

My furthest was at 48 miles. The last hill to climb on the way to town resulted in the engine chugging and dying out until I pulled the clutch in, and I was then able to continue on a little bit. It never died completely, but I did coast downhill into the fuel station. It was a close call!

I went about 45ish the first week I had the bike accidentally and was positive I was going to be pushing it......I was very happy that I didn't

Whent 58 miles. Took 5.8 Gal. I was riding through the Apache Indian Reservation in northern AZ. The station I planed on stopping at was closed. Had to press on. Very scary.

Went over 50 miles crossing New Mexico on the way back from CO in 2011. Had the instant mpg display in view the whole time. At about 55 mph this thing sips fuel if you really need to stretch it.

For future reference many places in Europe have self service pumps that take your credit card and work even when the station is unmanned, confused me the first time cursing those lazy French bastards until the Hotel owner informed me of the way thimgs are over there.

I have pushed 40 miles a few times. Once I pushed 50 miles and I did run out of gas. If the conditions are decent, and you aren't pushing it, the 40 mile range would be realistic. Quite often, I'm riding 20 to 30 miles on reserve.

This has been my experience as well. The key is to back-off a bit and you can easily pull anohter 50 mies after the light starts flashing. This is assuming you are not running into a strong head wind. Then all bets are off!! ::024::

When I first looked at this thread this morning, I thought it said "How far do you ride in reverse?". I was really anxious to see what Rod had to say about that. Bummer. Hey, I'm old. Gimme a break. R ::013::

I've done around 50 several times. Don't like to push it to far, but I think I would have another 30 or so if I really had to.
