How do you remove the bar ends after taking out the hex head screw on the end?

I have taken out the end screw and lifted away to hand shield but I want to put heated grips on and cannot see how to get the bar end off... or doesn't it? Tugging does not do any good. This is a 2020 registration. Also do you have to cut the grips off which seems a shame? Thanks.

On my 2012, the bar ends were just held on by the screw. I don't see any reason they would have changed that on a newer model.
And I used compressed air to help remove the grips without cutting.

Just found an article and they have a big hex recess in the bar end. They are really on hard however, must have a thread lock on them...

OK so I have got them off and have the insight! You need a 12mm hex head and some way of attaching a breaker bar! The bar ends have thread lock on them and as many have found (including the 700 Tenere owners) they can take some real force to get them off... it depends how much thread lock has been used, some have found then very easy to get off with little or actually no thread lock on at all. The thread lock is not done at the factory it is done by the "dealers" when the put the hand guards on once out of the packing crate!

I do know that on my 2013 the threads for the bar end screw was simply what looked like a nut welded inside the handlebars, whereas on my brothers 2017 the inside of the bars was actually threaded so when he changed his bars he just tapped the new bars ended up with an OE fit.

But neither of us had any trouble getting the hex head bolts out.
