Was always leg over (can't beat getting your leg over) awkward with panniers on now though

::026:: If you're going to use the pegs, like a horse, put it on the center stand first. If a passenger is getting on, passenger mounts like a horse with the rider bracing the bike.

No way, this sucker bike is built like a tank. Non issue mounting in this manner, either side or center stand.

There are some strange discussions on here sometimes! But for the record I abseil onto mine from a helicopter, it saves all that leg swinging 8)

This is pretty much the way I have mounted this bike and the wee since day one. No problems, but maybe I wasn't thinking it through. I have bad knees so its just easier.

I park it under my second story bedroom window. Go upstairs. Jump out the window.

I saw it in a western once. ::014::

I mount mine like an olympic pommel horse.... a spring board run up and few inverted pirouettes, some leg swings and get seated with a wide legged Cossack press.
It is even more fun dismounting as the wife and kids hold up score cards!

Grab it by the haunches and wrestle it into submission, like life.

Left foot on left peg and swing my leg over, even the panniers (6'6" long legs).
If I'm loaded for camping pull my right knee to my chest and squeeze my leg over my seat.

Being 6'6" and 38" inseam it's not much of a challenge to mount most bikes by approaching from the left side, left hand on left grip, lifting my right leg over the bike and mounting. I've never mounted my left foot to peg first, as I can reach the ground just fine ;)

If I am in a showroom trying new bikes, or mounting someone else's bike, or my back seat is loaded, and want to be extra careful, I'll grab my right ankle/foot to guide it over the seat so I don't inadvertently scuff anything.

I recently asked to sit on a friends Harley Geezer Glide. He instructed me to mount from the right side when it was sitting on the side stand. He was told by his buddy the cop Harley rider that his was their training, and was the way to mount. I obliged him just for the hell of it, but it felt totally wrong after doing it the right way all my life. ;)

It definitely is hard to get used to, but there is a reason for it. Depending on where you have stopped on a roadway, you're not mounting/dismounting on the traffic side. I always tried to park where it wasn't an issue, but occasionally there was the need to.
