Was surfing and stumbled on this page. Don't know if many have seen it. Did a forum search and couldn't find a post.

Great history synopsis on the heritage of our ride! Most of us in North America don't realize the intense devotion to this bike since it was first spawned - largely the result of its early Dakar success. Arguably the FIRST ADVENTURE BIKE that everyone else copied ::022::

I guess there is (was?) a Swiss Tenere club. It doesn't include the XT1200Z, so I don't know if it is that current.
Anyone on the forum know of the club, its status, and take on the new ST?

That's one of the things that bothers me the most about the S10. The Tenere' line up went from a great adventure/off road line up and then the S10 dropped the ball by morphing it into a street bike.

Yeah. No XT660 over here, yet.
I would assume that this bike is more off-road where the bigger bore XT1200 is a little more on-asphalt biased?

The tenere never morphed Pete, just increased its offering. I have the 660 for commuting and dual sport and the s10 for touring. I have owned teneres for 26 years, the s10 is an awesome bike for long hauls including fire trails and light off road. I would never attempt to take it where I take the 660, simple physics don't allow it. The issue is not the S10, just the fact the 660 does have comfort issues when riding fully loaded cross continent, the s10 solved the problem. The history of the bike is dual sport and hardcore adventure, the s10 doesn't change the story, just expands what the tenere stands for.

In 1989 Yamaha present the Super Ténéré. The new developed two-cylinder twin engine has five valves and downdraft carburettors. The Model set new maximum performance values in the Enduro scene. It's not as light as a single cylinder bike and so not to use for everything. But if one gets used to the weight you can use it quite well off road. The Super Ténéré is a solid motorcycle for travelling long distances with much comfort.
Sounds like the same thing to me ;D

Howdy,
Before you stick the "street bike" moniker on the S10 watch the video in this recent post from our Spanish friends. The S10 was the only one to make it up the hill without help. Also, if you look at those deep troughs prior to the "hill" there is no way a boxer could get through.
