After seeing what kind of results these guys were getting with the BMW GS, i decided to take the Ten down for a dyno run and some twiddling. The bike has an Arrow De-Cat and an Akrapovic can.
The day began with a run with no other mods than above..

The bike now goes like an utter Bastard. There is a slight snatchiness at 2000 rpm - but the gains in sporting response and sheer enjoyment are worth it. Geoff (the tuner) is solid and i consider it £350.00 well spent. I now have the bike i want and now have no desire to trade for anything else, due to the fact that it now feels utterly wonderful to ride. A great day well spent.

Here's the contact details.

I would advise a phone call as Geoff doesn't seem to check his emails all that often, but in his defence, he is bloody busy.

Sounds like a great result and cost effective given until now the alternative was a flash AND a power commander. Am i making it too simple thinking about it like that?

Did he alter sport and touring modes, just one, or has he replaced both with a single map

That was going to be my question too. I am actually pretty happy with the clutch mod, and I would not want to lose the tame touring mode by having a remap. I would also like to know there impact (positive or negative) on mpg and tank range.

The only real niggle I have about remaps is that I always like to return a bike to stock when I sell, and this would mean getting another remap back to the factory settings.

I may still go the remap route, but just need to ponder a bit more. Great info, Paul. Many thanks for sharing.

The mod is purely to the ECU - no Powercommander is fitted. Touring mode is now useful - slightly more responsive than before - but sport mode does what it says on the tin.
As for selling the bike - just no point now. It's all the bike i will ever need.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the info. I appreciate that you are really happy with the bike, and I was more thinking of my own situation. I do tend to change bikes every few years and I am a little wary of something that will need to be reversed later.

Thanks again for the info. Really useful.

No worries mate. I was in the same boat. I'd ridden the Tiger 12 (amongst other stuff), was having doubt's about long term ownership of the Ten, but after this mod, all i can see me doing is adding to the garage in time. The Yamaha is going nowhere now!

Don't bother

The next woner will just get a bit more than he is paying for ::008::

The remap is pretty stealthy and really just sorts out the issues of the stock setup, either advertise it as re-mapped or trade it as-is and "forget" to mention the remap.

I sold a Hilltop Re-Mapped ZZR1400 and advertised it as modded, I think decent sensible mods do not make a bike any harder to shift, for each potential buyer it puts off there is another one keen to get something for nothing.

One thing I did wonder is if this is just from adjusting the fuel map, or if the fly-by-wire restrictions have also been removed

So is there any similarity to the remap which took the restrictions away?
I guess yours is done on the bench, right?
Sorry if i'am boring with this questions.

I'm guessing it's very similar to the Diasapon flash. The bike defaults to Touring mode when first started. The work was done on the dyno, just to fine tune the map. No probs with the questions - that's what these forums are for.
