Re: HDB bar clamp

Koinz,
Well, I've got good news and I've got bad news.

Of the version you listed (standard powerlet, flipped powerlet, and reversible), only the flipped will be produced from now on. Flipped meaning powerlet holes on the top.

The good news is that there is remaining stock on the standard and reversible in the size needed for the super tenere (100x38/40mm). That point isn't being brought up much since it would just confuse the group buy, but at your time of order, you'll just want to put a comment that you want the reversible. Since that version comes with powerlet holes and LED holes/lights, it is priced the same as the ADVdx upgrade, so select that upgrade when you create your shopping cart list. Honestly, the ADVdx probably looks better than the Reversible and if you are OK with the powerlet holes being up top, then go for the ADVdx (with LED) or ADV (without LED).

Note that the below four versions of the top clamp are the current versions.

Of the current versions, only two are available for 7/8" bars (sorry, no "powerlet" versions for 7/8" bars):
SX
SXdx

All four versions are available for 1 1/8" fatbars (the Super Tenere comes stock with 1 1/8" bars, so these apply):
SX
SXdx
ADV
ADVdx

Well I finally got around to fitting the clamp today and what a splendid bit of kit it is. I wired up a powerlet and installed a ram ball. I now have the power and the glory :) I'll take some pics and post up tomoz if I get some spare time.
Thanks for the pics and look forward to more as you continue to add goodies to the HDB mount!

By the way, for those that are curious about part numbers, the RAM ball that fits in the switch mounts of the HDB top clamp is RAM part number RAM-B-236U which is a 3/8"-16 with 1" ball available at many online retailers.

An even better and stronger option (and recommended by Paul at HDB) is part number RAM-B-367U that replaces one of the top clamp bolts.
Thanks Chad for the RAM info!!

Anyone done anything interesting with a Highway Dirtbikes top clamp?

I've seen these bad boys and thought that with the right combination of switches etc, they'd make a lovely job of installing accessories and switches for accessories (for things that you don't need/want at your thumbtips):

Although they do also make some interesting brackets for things you want within thumbs' reach, too:

Here's an old thread on this:

http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=920.0

So it's definitely been done, although haven't seen the topic come up in a long time. They do look pretty bad-ass! And well made.

Merged the two threads. Thanks for pointing it out.
