I suppose I do have a question which I'm sure has been answered a couple of hundred times but here it goes...

I had a 2017 Super Tenere. It was the non es model.

Now I see a lot of the gen 1 bikes for sale at a much lower price, like 4k less for similar mileage but different gens. I bought the gen 2 because I had read of the differences between the two and felt like the gen 2 was worth the differences. I liked my bike for many things, including the linked brakes and cruise control which I don't hear get mentioned that often in the forums. So now as I search for another bike is it worth the extra 3-4k for the gen 2?

Thanks

Linked brakes are nice... but CC is very important to me if I plan on going on long trips. If just doing around town or 100 miles one way or the occasional 300 mile day... then I wouldn't care about CC.

You lose! as I don't engage my custom cruise on my CBR 1100XX or any bike unless I am droning the miles out. Otherwise I am on back roads, traffic or going to town... where I don't use CC. The ST1300A doesn't have CC and I don't bat an eye taking it out on a 300 mile day. My butt doesn’t like a 300 mile day on that so much... butt I can make it out to Idaho in 2 days and it's 1400 miles. No big deal and no CC. CC for me is droning down the hwy. I rode for years without it. I prefer it and when I have a choice I get a bike with it as I ride away on long trips. If you don't and don't need to spend 4,000 more don't let that be a deal breaker.
