Welcome on, sarel from SA. The Tenere does indeed have the knees of the bees, and is as well the ass of the cat. Cat's ass, sorry. Almost every member of the Forum is a convert from another bike, so ask away. Lots of help here. ::004:: to the Forum. R. ::022::

Take a look around the forum, you'll find lots of info and reasons the S10 is a great bike.

Good luck with the search!

My brother has a DL. (not the new improved one) We have ridden all over the U.S. together.

He'll tell you there is no comparison. The Tenere takes no prisoners. :)
Huge difference in foul weather and/or tough terrain.

Welcome Sarel !
My riding buddy is named Sarel and is from South Africa and immigrated about ten years ago. He rides a 2012 GS but I forgive him :)
As for the bike comparison , the Tenere has the advantage of shaft drive and low maintenance. The V-Strom costs less.
Can't go wrong either way .
