My brother has a DL. (not the new improved one) We have ridden all over the U.S. together.
He'll tell you there is no comparison. The Tenere takes no prisoners.

My riding buddy is named Sarel and is from South Africa and immigrated about ten years ago. He rides a 2012 GS but I forgive him
As for the bike comparison , the Tenere has the advantage of shaft drive and low maintenance. The V-Strom costs less.
Can't go wrong either way .
