Hey Harty, welcome! As a current Tiger Brother myself, as soon as I get myself a ride on a Super Tenere I'll be publishing my full on Tiger 1050 vs. Tenere comparo. Obviously they are different bikes with different purposes (pure street vs. street/dirt), but I have a really good feeling about the Tenere stacking up in all areas except for the engine. You just can't beat a triple, may have to settle for the twin. ;) Life is a compromise and so are bikes, it all depends on what you're personally looking for.

When you figure it out, let me know will'ya. :D

Just kidding of course. I don't have any experience on the Tiger, but I did see one yesterday on my afternoon ride and it does look nice. The reason I'm going for the Tenere is the Following:

1 - Less expensive than a GS.
2 - Much larger Dealer Network.
3 - Historical Reliablity of Yamaha's in general (I can't say the same for recent BMW's, although I wish I could).
4 - Farkles are generally less expensive. (maybe that's because they fit multiple Yamaha models).
5 - I was ready for a new bike.

I guess those are my top five - They're not meant to sway you in either direction, but that's what helped me decide. Welcome.

Hey Harty,

Welcome on board. I did sell my Tiger 1050 ABS back on Oct 2010. I am very anxious waiting for the beast!
