Hey Elmo,

Welcome aboard.

So what's your thoughts regards 990 vs S10.

Interested to hear your observations considering you are one of the "tough on bikes" countries.

Nice pics by the way. 8)

Cheers
Graham

Welcome aboard Elmo. Nice pics! Keep them coming for those of us that will be waiting 3 or 4 months or maybe longer for our S10's.

Hi Graham
The 990s is most definitely one of the most awesome bikes ever build.
I was able to put nearly 50000km hassle free km’s on , and did some amazing rides.
It was time for a change, and I started looking around. The idea of a shaft and the more modern electronics (abs/Traction control etc) was very appealing. It was also time to slow down slightly on gravel, which is maybe not a bad thing. BMW has never been my scene, and the new KTM 990R, is a superb, but then I may as well have keep the 990s. I have only had the bike for two weeks, and the first thing that struck me, was how easy it was to ride this bike. It feels exceptionally light. On Gravel it could maybe have had slightly more travel, and the ground clearance might be a concern, but, the second thing that struck me, was, I never once missed the ktm!!. I feel so confident doing the tight twisties, that it almost feels as though I’m on a much smaller bike.
This bike so far is a winner, and am looking forward to doing some good rides..
I obviously love the smoothness of the bike, and the piece of mind , knowing that there is a Yamaha engine under there! The Third thing that struck me, was how well the brakes work, I have ordered an ABS-off switch, and might cancel because you don’t need to switch off, the brakes .. just… STOP!
Lastly, I’m going to enjoy the confort.
Will post more
Cheers Elmo

Hi Elmo
The pic looks like you visited Gods Window in Eastern Transvaal. Am I right?
Hi Yam-Nut
This was Breedtsnek, ontop of Magaliesburg, near Rustenburg, but it looks very similar to Gods Window area.
Thanks Elmo

Nice to have you here Elmo ... sounds like you're at one with XT1200Z already. I find the bike near perfect for what I want. Different beast to the 990 for sure.

Hallo Elmo! Great to see another South African on the site. At least four already that I know of... Two of us on S10's in the Centurion area and it will be great if you can join us for a ride!
Breedtsnek looks great after all the recent rains!

Regards, Andre

Elmo, thanks for your comparison to the 990. That was one bike that is available to me here that I really gave alot of thought to. Now that I have decided on and ordered the S10, I may still add the KTM 530 to my garage for local, mostly dirt riding.

Elmo,

I am envious of you folks who have a Super Tenere already. But the good side is I have lots of feedback from owners on what a good bike it is and what farkles are must haves.
