Welcome from Texas. They're right, the Tenere is going to be totally different from the H-D . . . . in a better way.

Thank you guys for the warm welcome messages- it's great to be with you here. I am studying the manual right now, will be changing the oils and ordered crash bars. The bike feels a bit intimidating right after my sportster, but potential for enjoyable rides is huge. I will seek for an advice on how to set up suspension - have 0.0 experience with it. I realize that it is very subjective, but would like to find some kind of starting / reference setup to begin with for my weight and riding plans. I am 190 lbs geared up and will start mostly with canyon roads, in town and some freeways. My plan was to adjust all parameters to the standard manual settings unless there is a better suggestion. Thank you guys again.

If yours is an ES, use 1 helmet = 200lbs, and luggage = 50lbs as a rough starting point. You, at your weight, would use just use 1 helmet. For compression go from +3 to -3, and soft to hard to find out how the max/min settings effect the ride. Of course, different roads might need different compression settings. You're also very correct as far as suspension settings being very subjective.

And if you don't have an ES . . . . forget everything I just said.

Welcome from metro Seattle! For standard Tenere, you're on the right track for suspension settings. You won't break anything, so adjust a couple clicks at a time until the bike feels good to you. Good luck!

I should've specified that my bike is not ES.
Looks like I will start with the standard factory settings per manual and will take it from there.

Hey Mishka start with this:

Thank you for the video. I set up front and rear sag and everything else dialed to the manual standard. Interesting that the rear shock set at the second bottom mark meaning on the hard side of the spectrum, but the front fork preload ended up at somewhat softer than standard setting 16mm ( 14mm is the standard and 19mm is the softest).

Hello from San Diego. The Tenere is a very capable bike, it will take you almost anywhere you want to go. Hope to see you get out and enjoy the bike!

Yeah, I took it for a short ride, it feels amazingly powerful and comfortable, no vibration at all in any gear on any speed. I couldn't realize how fast I was going until looked at the speedometer. But again, coming from Sportster, riding anything other than my office chair will be extremely enjoyable.
