Hi all,
After many hours of deliberating, I've finally decided to buy a used super10. Having gone into semi-retirement I wanted a bike that would take me abroad (and get me back again without fuss)
My short list was down to :

1) a new explorer 1200 ( was scared of by reliability issues and heavy depreciation)
2) nearly new BMW GSA,(was nervous of silly service costs, reliability, and I did not want to be part of the BM lifestyle!)
3) a used Super ten, bomb proof (so I am told) easy to maintain, plus no stupid "beak"

So, my old faithfully 1100s Ducati Multistrada has gone, and 2 bikes have moved in 2010 Super ten and a 2010 KTM 990 Superduke (I like a daft hour every now and again) both bikes 1 owner, sub 8k miles.

The s10 is blue (fave colour) a few touratech parts, plus carbon side panels, also has OEM panniers, some other bits on order e/bars / sump guard, 33l Givi trecker top box ( for commuting) and Heated grips.

So, really looking forward to getting it in a couple of weeks, trips already booked for 2014, Scotland in May (shakedown trip) then Off to moto GP in Barcelona.

No doubt, lots of reading on this site to be done, and probably some questions heading your way !

Steve

Out of curiosity, why didn't you go for one of the new 1200 Multistradas? Must have been a consideration for you, no?

I think probably because he wants to get back from Europe with out fuss ::025::
Ooops I shouldn't diss ducati for the sake of a cheap laugh, I've had enough of them and only 2 failures both of them rectifiers.

Stampy did you get your S10 (& superduke) from M&S in the Toon? I noticed they had a blue S10 with the worldcrosser carbon bits before chrimbo. If so did they try to flog you a ktm1190 ? :)

1200 Multistrada..... yes I thought that was going to be the bike to have,,,,my riding buddy has one and it is a hell of a piece of kit...... however,
I`m planning on some eastern European trips, and cast wheels is a no, no
cant get away with the seating position, I`m from a dirt bike background and couldn't get away with the sitting in as opposed to be sitting on, plus no movement forward or back
not sure how much a high mileage multi would be worth in 3 yrs time? (I wouldn't want one!)
they can be thirsty, but reliability wouldn't bother me although the electronics would worry me if goes T**s up out of warranty..... my old 1100 aircooled was very reliable however

Macca, your spot on......that's the one, they had the bike in November..... like to think I got it at a good price, was sure it would have sold before I got my hands on funds to purchase it!
I test rode the KaTooM 1190 last summer, nice but build quality didn't seem so good (my perception of course) then the price went up, and by the time I had luggage added and other odds n sods it was up to 14 k !!! and I really couldn't face the depreciation.

So, my thinking is the S10 suits the bill perfectly for my travelling.... and the Superduke will clear the cobwebs on a sunday morning

Welcome Stampy. Enjoy the S10. Hopefully one day we'll get an S10 UK meet-up like many of us have talked about.
