Hepco & Becker Side Case Racks, new version Install Question

I just received the new version of the Hepco & Becker Lock-It side case racks and I have some questions about proper installation. First, the instructions for installing the racks from Hepco & Beckers website says that the long spacers should be placed on the left side of the bike, while the instructions from Hepco & Becker that came in the box with the racks says that the long spacers should be placed on the right side of the bike.

So far, I have tried installing both ways and neither way works they way I think it should, the racks do not seem to sit evenly spaced on the bike and the removable portion of the racks do not fit without a fair amount of bending and tension.

Anyone who has installed these racks, if you could provide some ideas or pictures of your install I would really appreciate it. I have contacted the dealer and he recommended installing according to the instructions in the box, but he seemed confused by the two conflicting sets of instructions from Hepco & Becker, I have also emailed Hepco & Becker twice about this issue, but have received no response from them.

Thanks!

Mate....can I tell you. I tried a few different combinations but the long spacers both go on the left. Guaranteed. If there is tension then Something is wrong. The left side sticks out about 15mm wider than the right. It took me a while to get this right but when I did it All goes together with no tension.

When I tried to install mine the only way they would work was with the long spacers on the exhaust side, otherwise the mounts would not clear the exhaust. Mine ended fitting so badly, including needing to be forced into alignment, that I returned them.

That is how mine feel, definitely not quite the precision I was expecting. Once they are on they seem alright, but definitely a bit of a struggle to get them on and off the bike. I will probably keep them as the cost and inconvenience to return them isn't worth the hassle...

I wonder if Yamaha changed any of the mounting points on the 2013's?

Thanks for the replies, Squarebore and Mchaskell, I appreciate it!
