I just replaced plugs, air filter and did manual CCT install. Bike cranks, but will not start. Doesn't even sound like it going to light up. I've tried WOT and fuse 4 with no luck. Checked connections, fuel hose, jumping battery from running truck battery. I secured cam chain during CCTswap, but is it possible chain jumped? 2012 model.

HELP!!!!

I changed my plugs last year (did not trust the supplying dealer that they did it) but when I went to start it, it just would not........ panic hit!! :'( Turned it off, turned it back on, WOT and it cranked, popped loudly and fired up, phew.
Check the coils are connected correctly first then run things down, hopefully not a cam jump, good luck ::008::

Thanks for replies.

Fuel line never disconnected.

I'm getting worried it's a cam chain jump, even though I secured chain. That's gonna be $$$$ to take to dealer.

Gonna check for spark now.

UPDATE: There's spark. I think cam jumped.
Better tear it down and check timing. I wouldn't try cranking it again. Consider yourself lucky if no damage has already occured.

If the timing jumped, the damage is likely already done. BTDT, spent 4 months waiting on warranty repairs.

check that the vent lines under the tank did not get crimped when you put the tank down. If they are ok, stop and take it to the dealer, hope for the best, but be prepared for bad news.

Update: HELP!!!! Won't start (already read hard start threads)- -Codes read

Being a newbie to this bike , I'm still learning.

I found the diagnostic function. d:62 revealed 2 codes (22 and 30). I cleared them, but d:61 still shows 1. Tried starting, check engine light comes back on, but no codes registered.

Thoughts?

Go back and make sure every electrical plug is connected. I had same issue one time after valve check and found that I had missed one of the connectors to throttle bodies. Connected and it fired right up. Would have sworn that I had not missed one.

He said the bike wouldn't start. If you're one single tooth off, it will likely still run. 3 teeth will be causing problems and won't start. But even with that said, there are variations on that theme that might have other results.

In regards to the OP, it's been over 6 months since his last post in this thread. Either the bike is long fixed, or he doesn't own it any more.

Yeah. Mine was suddenly impossible to start today. Traced all the stuff I'd fiddled with and it finally started, but while cranking it seemed as though every time it was about to start it would sort of lock itself. I now have fault code 35 which is for the spark plug I messed with and will reconnect tomorrow. The thing I can't figure out is why it was impossible to start in the first place. I'm also wonder if cranking with a low battery can damage the cct. The Vmax will eat its starter clutch if cranked with a low battery.

Low battery shouldn't affect the CCT but could sure cause a hard or no-start.
Try a WOT start yet?

OP crashed yesterday and was on here trying to buy a set of handlebars, so I'd say he got it cranked.

I had tried everything (wot, button pushing, bump start). I lifted the tank and r/r the fuel lines, checked for spark, and it eventually started but was super slow idling. I'd forgotten to plug in a spark plug. Did that this morning, and all is well.
