Would someone post a close up pic of the fitting of the bars onto the top yoke ?

When I bought my bike the dealer fitted a bar mounted satnav carrier.

I have now removed this as I have fitted the Touratech screen adjuster with satnav mounting.

Not sure I have used the correct fixings. Ideally a pic taken from directly above would be most helpful.

Would not like the bars to come adrift at speed

Help would be much appreciated.

I don't have a close up but the good folks on this board helped me out on this very thing. Check out the thread below and if you still have questions, post 'em up.

Thanks for that which helps with the tightening of the bolts.

However.....my problem is that I don't know if I have used the right bolts. Stupidly I did not label the bags of bits as I collected the bike/changed bits .

I would like to look at a pic from which I will be able to check whether the bolts I have used are correct.

But I will use the tightening method in the thread you quoted.

I understand you to be asking which bolts retain the handlebar clamps.

It will be these: Item 14 95024-08035-00 BOLT, FLG.(SMALL HEAD)

It is off the Yamaha parts list, item 14, under steering, here:
http://www.yamaha-motor.com/partviewer/default.aspx?ls=sport#/Yamaha/SUPER_TENERE_-_XTZ12BL_-_2012/STEERING/XTZ12BL_(2012_MOTORCYCLE)/STEERING_(XTZ12BL_-_2012)

The way the Yamaha parts list works is this for fasteners: skip the "95024" part if you merely want to know diameter/length/size. the bolt is an 8mm thread, 35 mm long (that is not counting the head, but the part that is threaded, even if it isn't completely threaded.

Now you can look up whatever bolt questions you may have, and have an aster as fast as you can ask it! Look over the parts lists for different parts, it will begin to make sense.

Good luck. 8)

Thanks Yamaguy.

I have actually solved my dilemma by asking the dealer who sold me the bike to send me a pic of a top yoke from the bike in the showroom.

This pic has confirmed that I was using the wrong bolts !

I found the correct bolts and fitted them using the instructions referred to above.

All is now good in the hood. ::012::

You're welcome. I've found the factory parts lists very valuable for a lot of normal and not-so-normal things for years. It is very nice that the fastener PNs are based on the diameter and length of the various bolts/screws. Good to hear the problem was easily resolved; there's nothing like trying to figure out how to undo what someone else has done. That is one of the primary reasons I prefer to do my own modifications: that way I know what was done and how to undo them.
