I've been using a combinatin lock cable thingie that I just leave on the Altrider rear rack and put it through the chin bar of the helmet. The only way the helmet can be stolen is if they cut the cable. If they do that, then they can cut a D ring too if I use any other type of lock. So my way is cheap and easy. Can use for a jacket etc. too.

I must have missed something.. How would the cable stop a thief from cutting the straps on a helmet?
If you run it through the chin bar, they really have to want it.

As mentioned above, the cable simply goes through the eye cut out. I put the helmet on the seat and the lock goes through the passenger grab handle. Obviously this won't work for an open face helmet.

Don't know about you but when getting off the bike on a hot and sticky summer day, it's really nice to ditch the jacket, too. I just feed the cable through a sleeve.

Dang, I did miss that... It makes sense if you run thru the open spot in a full face.. ::024:: Good idea.. ::008::

I use a pistol lock. Good for helmets, jackets and whatever. Go to a gun shop and they will most likely give it to you for nothing and they fit very well in a tank bag.

Am I missing something or isn't it just a case of easily removing two licence plate bolts and walking away with two helmets? Should take about 30 seconds? ???
Security screws.

It's not about making it impossible to steal your stuff. It's about making your stuff harder to steal than your neighbor's stuff.

For me, it's also about a place to put my helmet that it won't just fall off of.
