I am looking for a way to lock my helmet on my bike so when I go in to get a nice breakfast I do not have to worry, too much, about my helmet growing little feet and fleeing away!
Any insight(s) would be appreciated.

If I use a simple cable with a lock what do you recommend for cable length ignored to secure my helmet and jacket?

4' or 6' makes for less bunching if you're going to run the cable thru the sleeve.

I have too much stuff in my pockets to leave a jacket on the bike. I use a 1' cable to lock the helmet to the handlebars when I feel the need.

I bought a generic locking helmet lock from revzilla or motorcyclesuperstore that bolts around the frame.
I attached it on the lower left of the tail subframe. it cost about $15 bucks.
I've posted pictures of it here before, I'm at work and unable to post pics.
I did a search for helmet lock, and found the post I posted a picture in:

hope that helps

I had a new expensive helmet and locked it with the D-rings once. The bad guys knived the strap and I imagine they just sewed on a new set of D-rings. I've used the top box or a bicycle cable lock through the eye port ever since.

My helmet, HJC, has a snap on the end of the strap. I also have lockable factory side cases. I just put the helmet on the passenger seat or top of the side case and lock the end of the strap in the side case. Thieves can always cut the strap and steal the helmet but it would make the helmet less useable. If it rains, the helmet is still upright and doesn't get wet inside.
