Hi all! Glad to be coming aboard here as a prospective S10 buyer. Been lurking for a while and now that my consideration for purchase is growing I thought I'd jump into the fray with you folks. I come from an enduro/dual purpose history and consider the S10 to be the pinnacle. My stable has thinned recently with the sales of a KTM 690SM and a Yamaha WR250R. My heart loved both and my skeleton despised them, although my wife is thrilled by the absence of mud. Age is proving to have a profound effect upon the healing rate while heralding that time has come for me to appreciate more slab than mire. The stable of one now consists of a well-farkled Kawasaki KLR650, which despite it's rudimentary construct has been nothing short of excellent. At this time I am seriously considering the S10 and will likely come to a decision within a month or so.

I look forward to becoming acquainted and learning more from you, and hope to offer something as I can.

Welcome Travex, yeah you won't be the only older person here for sure. 50+ seems to be the norm, with the 30+ following up closely behind. Your wife wil think this is a street bike, and you will know better!!! It can bring it's share of mud home too!!! Just watch the videos, there are plenty. Good luck!!! It's awesome!!! OH, motoblog IT. has some good videos on youtube.

Thank you all for the warm welcome, advice, video, and humor! It appears age has not taken it's toll on impulsiveness as I bought the bike this morning. Will take delivery mid-late next week. Received a callback from the salesman this morning with an offer too good to pass on. In addition, I ordered the (back-ordered) panniers, skid plate, and crash bar. I'm pumped.

Woohoo!!! Congrats Travex!!! Now you know what most of us felt for 9 months waiting for this? We had that time to buy our goodies here and there then fondle them in the garage to pass time!!! Wait, hope I wasn't the only one fondling my parts!!!!

Thanks HoebSTer!!! You're all better men than I. 9 freakin months?! Hats off to you and those who've blazed that trail before me.
Added heated grips to the mix this morning. Usually do all my own work but in the case of this purchase I'm just going to let the dealer do these first farkles for me. An obvious sign of advancing years no doubt.
