Possible new owner here. Really like what I see on the Tenere. Current rides are a 2012 BMW K1600GTL and 2000 BMW K1200LT Trike. Thinking of trading or selling the GTL and getting a Tenere. The GTL has been trouble free but I can't take it on gravel roads, which I like to take sometimes. Nearest BMW dealer is 125 miles, nearest Yamaha dealer is 12 miles. GTL is 700+ lbs, Tenere is less than 600.
Thinking of doing a 4 Corners tour using mostly back roads.
Previous bikes: 2008 BMW K1200GSA, 2005 KTM 950 Adv, BMW R100GS and Honda R650R.

Funny, I've rode past this trike shop and been down the gravel road that goes beside it and never knew that they are built there. Only lived here for a couple of years, guess the bright yellow Goldwing trike parked out front should have clued me in...

After taking my GTL in for service due to a factory recall and some needed computer updates and having to pay almost $400 for an oil change, I stopped in at my local Yamaha dealer.
They have one Super Ten on the showroom floor for $12700...2013 model in matte gray. Good looking bike. Would need to add side cases.
Hung around looking at it for about 15 minutes....no employees or customers in sight. I'm the only one in there. No big deal anyway as I need to wait until I actually sell the GTL before I look anymore.

Ouch! Motorider I've got 22,000 miles on my S10 and I haven't spent 400 dollars on oil and filters yet. I buy Yamaha filters and Mobile 1 4T. I change my oil myself. My buds with beamers are constantly throwing money at them. Buy an S10 for some worry free riding, don't pay attention to magazine about any bike, they have an agenda(advertising dollars) or no clue what most of us want. I call my bike my Alaska bike but hope to see the 4 corners some day too. I got Key West in Feb. If you are not happy at a certain Yamaha shop go down the road a couple of miles there will be another one. Best of Luck selling the GTL. I've never owned a BMW but have watched friends have way to much DRAMA for me to want to own one.

I've never had a BMW leave me stranded but dealers are few, not like Yamaha. The GTL is pretty complicated and loaded with options I have never used. I liked my KTM 950 but it did leave me stranded once due to water pump failure...ruined my trip to Utah. With KTM dealers not very plentiful I had to trailer it back to Texas from NW New Mexico.
I'm going on a ride up into Kentucky the third week of April so will put the GTL up for sale after I get back from there.

Welcome Bob,

I sold my BMW R1100RT for the Super Tenere and couldn't be happier. ::001::

Service is less expensive, less drastic, and service centers are closer (if you are into letting someone else mess with your ride).

I think you would enjoy the Super Tenere as a road tourer with the bonus option of taking off road (even if just fire or logging roads).

Bob, another greeting from Texas. Good luck with the transition. Once you get your Tenere sorted and farkled, you'll never look back.
