Hello Everyone:

I got my S10ere finally last week after getting rid of my 2010 Multistrada !!
Altrider crash bars went on last night, by Monday I will have the Altrider skid plates on there.
I will be looking into buying some panniers by the end of the year, any suggestions?
What do you think of Zego Pro ?

this is my first posting, but I have been reading the forum for a year or so..... Any help is appreciated !! great forum and I have enjoyed it a lot. Glad to be part of the TENERE Community!!

I am fairly happy with my SW Motech Trax gear.

Panniers look and feel nice, have survived a 3 hour deluge completely dry and the quick release frames are handy, only criticism is the locks have a rather cheap feel and the top box cramps the passenger a bit - nothing an engineer I know can't sort over the winter with a bit of machining to the base plate. Considering the price (in the UK not much more than the plastic Givi's) I found them reasonable value - about £1200 for the 3 box setup with inner bags and quick release racks, I think the Zega's were around £1800 ???

I have had the Zega Pro 31/38 panniers on my bike for the last 52k miles, and have been very happy with them. I thought the purchase price was a bit excessive, but the panniers have been great. I especially like the easy mounting/removal, the lid design, and am quite impressed by the solidity of the rack. Off pavement, the panniers have been very helpful in making the bike easier to pick up from "naps", and the size seems a perfect fit for my way of packing for trips. Also keeps the width of the panniers essentially in line with the bar width, which is great for commuting. I've had one minor issue with the panniers - the little retaining knob for the lid cable disappeared somewhere. A quick call to Touratech, and a couple replacements were on their way at no charge. In other dealings with Touratech, I have been impressed by their product knowledge, general helpfulness, and customer service.

I have had Happy Trail panniers on my 800GS and KLR - the panniers themselves are great, but in both cases, mounting the pannier frame was a bit of a struggle. The Touratech frames went on very quickly, with no bending, squeezing, strecthing, pushing, pulling, twisting, or cussing. ;)

There is a good thread on panniers somewhere on the forum that will give you lots of great opinions and experiences with just about every offering available.

Welcome and happy riding!

Chris

Welcome on, BE, and congrats on the new bike. Regarding panneirs, there are a lot to choose from. Check out Micatech before you pull the pin. Good stuff. Enjoy the bike, and again, ::004:: . R ::022::

Greetings from the DC area and welcome to the club! I haven't purchased panniers yet either, still waiting to settle in on which setup I like the best. Might wait until the next 'gathering' and sneak peeks at other setups to see if something jumps out at me. I had the Pelican case setup from Caribou on my KLR and was happy with it all around.

Thank you all for warm welcome..... I am really happy with the bike. and thanks for the feedbacks on the panniers, I will wait for awhile, I have a Giant Loop soft saddle bag that I use on my DRZ 400, I share that till I find a good solution.
Once again, I thank you all....

Happy Riding to everyone

Have a great time. No suggestions on the Paniers.

I haven't needed them yet. I've got away with a bag so far.
