Hi folks, just about to purchase my first adventure bike after years of R1's and other sports bikes , really looking forward to getting out exploring the world on it (bored of doing laps of the TT course) , have raced a lot of enduro and motocross so hopefully my skills will transfer over to a bigger heavier lump of a bike , sure I'm going to have a great time here ;D

Welcome! I hope you find the Tenere as much fun to ride as I do. There's lots of info on the bike here that will be of use to you.

Hello Watchman. You'll be pleased with the change of style. Not only will the enduro stuff help with the mind adjustment but the sportsbike knowledge will also transfer nicely ... attitude adjustment. You'll find yourself riding like an R1. I know I do. You'll be surprised what you can do with these things. Have fun and keep us amused too.

Hi guys thanks very much for the welcome, hi HoebSTer no I dont think it ever gets old especially if your a dedicated fan , I do think the bikes are definately at their limit now but then again they were saying that 20 + years ago when fogarty and Hislop were racing and laping in the low 120's , Im a manxman lived here all my life and have travelled on the course every day ( you cant avoid it ) when we had totally no speed limits years ago and very little traffic it was fun on a sports bike but now there are too many cars and virtually the only bit of derestricted road is the mountain section, my wife often wonders how I made it to 43 living here and having a bike, hey hANNAbONE if your ever here I'll sink a few with yer, I live virtually on Ballaugh bridge and the raven pub always has a good selection on. ::003::

Watchman,

I may be at next year's TT with a student team in the TTxGP. We are designing the second generation bike and will be building soon. If we do manage to get there maybe we could meet for a brew or two!

Welcomes

I do like the IOM but find every time I get to 3rd gear i got to take a right :D

I'm just back from Nurburgring with one of the TT marshals in tow and find the S10 is as much fun to play on as any sports bike and then some ::26::

Hi Buckeye56 yes I'd like that very much, very interested in these electric bikes, cant believe how much the technology has come on this last year, who would have thought breaking the 100 barrier this quickly, yeah would love to see some pics sometime.

Welcome.

I too switched from sportsbikes (via a GS) and found a whole new world by taking to B-Roads and back lanes with less traffic and no plod, no longer need to be doing well over a ton everywhere before riding becomes fun.

Still manage to pass s surprising amount of power rangers even on the A-Roads, always good fun, especially if I have the Mrs on the back and 100 litres of luggage loaded onto the mule :)

Greeting Manx man

I have managed to get over to the the island every year for the las t 10 or so years. Enjoyed a nice sunny practice week this year on my S10.

Still enjoyed a few laps on the tenere although it is affected somewhat by the wind - I was nearly blown off the road at the end of Cronk y Voddy

Enjoy your bike and come over some time to enjoy the mainland's roads
