I'm a couple weeks into ownership of a new-to-me 2012 Super Ten. I currently live in the wide open spaces known as the Panhandle of Texas and I've been a motorcyclist for 32 years, most recently as owner of a 2004 Honda ST1300 and a 1983 Honda XL600R. I've realized that, at least for the foreseeable future, my time of taking 7-10 days and hitting the road aren't happening, but I wanted the ability to take a 3-5 day trip and not flinch when the road became unpaved. So sold both of my previous bikes and, having searched within my region (+/- 500 miles), I found my bike used at a dealership down in Austin, rode the ST1300 down, picked up the Super Ten the next morning and rode back. So got a 480 mile trip to evaluate right off the bat. Have to say I'm very impressed and posted my first impressions on a thread in this forum.
I do most of my own mechanicals (short of electrical diagnostics), have ordered SW Motech crashbars and skidplate, as well as a Madstad adjustable windscreen bracket. After that, we'll take things as they become needed ;D
Not sure if this forum has a 'helping hands' list, but I have a lift table, tire changing machine and enough tools to do just about any maintenance or repair if anyone happens to come thru town and need help.

I will be riding from Amarillo down to Stephenville this Friday, returning Sunday, for a football game (I work in college athletics). Will do my best to limit the miles on I-20 or US 287....will take 380 or 114 as much as possible.

Lots of Super Tenere riders in Texas, and as has been mentioned, we're putting together a ride in the Texas Hill Country this next Spring. Hope you can make it! ::001::

There's actually not much to ride down in the canyon. It is just one park rode in and out, that makes an 8-mile loop down on the floor. Speed limit is 30 mph. Pretty bland. Best bet is to take US287 to Claude, then head South down towards Silverton. That will take you down and across the canyou, then back up and out again (as well as plenty of Panhandle flatness). Then head East from Silverton and go down off the Caprock, thru Caprock Canyon to Turkey. Northeast from Turkey on 70 to Estelline (and US287) is lots of hills and sweepers. About as good a riding as we have up here.

+1 on this. I took this route as a detour on my way back from the Colorado rally. There was a wreck on 287 that had traffic jacked up. Stopped for fuel in Claude and a local turned me on to this route. Beat the heck out of slabbing 287
