I'm reading this forum for 3 years and got a lot of useful information. Unfortunately, I didn't take part in your discussions before. All tecnical problems are common.

This is my second S10 2013 year. The first one I changed by warranty last summer due to final drive problems after two years of using and 32K Km. The problem was with oil flow. So, it's one of the serious ilnesses for sure.

Few days ago I returned from a trip along Caucases and Middle Asia, including Pamir mountains. 10K km are behind.

My pictures from the trip http://plus.google.com/photos/106698704268028130053/albums/6015803936241107345?authkey=CKuzwfGqxtmv6AE

Privet from the US and thank you for the great photos from your adventure.
That part of the world is seen by few on this forum, so the photos are appreciated and we would like to hear whatever you can share about the trip.

You also mentioned having a problem with final drive problems. Because there are so few mechanical problems with this model, we would like to know more about what happened, and what your dealer found.

Welcome to the forum! Yours would be the very first that I have heard about, with a disabling final drive issue.

::004:: and hope your new bike is doing well for you. Sorry that you had a final drive issue with your first one. Please fill us in on the details because it is the first one I also have seen posted.

Also your trip photos are great! Thanks for sharing them. ::008::

The problem was with the sealing. The oil was flowing not too much, but the rim was almost covered. To say true, it's not so awful problem. First it happened during the trip to Kazakhstan after the rain in steppe.
I got stucked there for a while and the whole bike was covered with the clay. Without problems I returned home. I just added 50 ml of oil into final drive during 2500 km. After that dealer changed the sealing, but the flowing happened again.
Next time dealer changed the whole final drive component, and again it was flowing. So, the dealer changed the bike.

This is a picture of my first bike in Kazakhstan.

Privet! :)

During last trip we've been to Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. So it's a big list of the Soviet republics.
The most complicated country from the list was Turkmenistan. First it's the only country where we need to get visa and this is more hard than visa to Canada ;D Sorry guys
The second, country looks like Soviet in 80-s, police and picture of the president are everywhere. And the main, we where under deportation and now the entrance is forbidden till 2017 year.
That happened because we have only 5 days for transit and we stayed in the ferry for two days instead of one night, so we had to cross country (1750 km) in 3 days. We came to border in time, but the custom was closed earlier.
There is nice place inside of Kara Kum desert - "Gates to Hell" or Darvaza. That was our main goal.

So, if anybody decide to try this route, I'll do my best to help in organization of such trip.

Nice picture! That is what a Tenere is built for and should look like!

This photo is in the collection that you posted and you noted that you only needed to add 50 ml oil.
Was this the source of the oil on the rim and bike being exchanged? Hopefully this is not what stopped you.

On a road that is rough like a washboard for many km, others have also seen small amounts of oil get out through this rear vent. Nobody has reported being stopped by the bike not working, it is just a very extreme type of road to ride and a small amount of oil creates a big mess.

This photo is from my last trip on my new S10. Thats how it should be after 100 km or more of dashboard. Thus way ventilation valve should work otherwise the oil will go through sealing.
Dealer calls this situation like perspire (maybe wrong translation) and the oil level with such spot is ok.

Thanks about another thread, looks like my problem.

Your translation is good! ::008:: I don't see any problem with oil leaching from the vent when being ridden down 100 km of washboard roads!
