I've been lurking for a few months and thought I'd now join the ranks. My previous was a 2005 US spec FJR. After 55000 flawless miles and an agonising decision after a sit on a friends Tenere I decided to go for the Tenere. I've had my black Tenere from the beginning of August.
Due to the short side stand I lowered the suspension so the bike now stands better. ::025::
As many have said the bike gets better the more you ride it. On the FJR I could do a 200 mile stint and enjoy a coffee at the end of the ride. On the Tenere I wonder whether I should have the coffee or just do the 200 miles back to base and then have the coffee. Its a very amenable vehicle and the weight, where's the weight? I think I felt it once when reversing the bike down a slope. A lot easier than the FJR.

So I'm located in North Derbyshire , a stones throw from the Peak District and Sheffield in the UK. I tour, mainly camping. I used to 'green lane' with my little 250, but as yet , I haven't been off road with the Tenere. I hope to see you on my travels.

Graham.

Hello Graham,

Great choice of colour and your parents should be congratulated on their choice of name as well.

Hi Graham

looks as though the numbers on the north of the UK are gradually increasing. I'm in Huddersfield, West Yorks.

The Derbyshire dales are one of my favorite ride outs, never know we might bump into one another down there.

Welcome to another UK member! Great choice of colour, everyone knows the black ones are the fastest. Strange that you say the sidestand is short. I would have said it was a little on the long side because the bike appears to be too upright when stood on it, or am I missing the point and you just have short legs? :D

Graham, welcome! I frequently visit Burton on Trent (Staffordshire county) and have driven a good bit of the Peak District on four wheels. Some terrific rides, for sure.

By the way, keep in mind that you can have your bike painted blue once you tire of the black.

Spider - you must be partaking of the ales too much, to see blue over black! Stealth , thats the key. ::013::

There are some great rides, I hope you keep enjoying them.
