Hi there...
I'm 80% over the edge in ordering the new Super Tenere....(maybe closer to 95%)....I've been riding for 40 years on all kinds of things from older H-Ds, to BMWs (an 85 BMW K100 still is my favorite all-time bike). I traded in a Kawasaki Concours on a Honda NT700V last spring...nice bike and does everything you want a bike to do...however, I have always eyed the adventure series, and couldn't afford one... until maybe now.
I don't ride much off-road, but nice to know I could if I did want to (I once ended up on top of a mountain in central CA when the road kind of disappeared and there was no other way to get down but follow the dirt track down....on an old H-D).
Most of my riding is Spring to Fall (I'm originally from CA, where MCs could be your only transportation) ....I like doing 2 day ride-all-day solo trips

Hello and welcome. It sounds like the Super Tenere is the perfect bike for you. Go ahead with that last 5 to 20% and give in to it. Get one on order. Oh, and keeponriding!

Why thanks!
Mine is non-ABS...it really is a very nice all-around motorcycle...I put on 4k miles the first few months on freeways and through mountains and had little to complain about. If I keep going I'll convince myself not to trade it.

Welcome to the forum! I always liked the way that the side cases on the NT700V were integrated into the bike, it looks really clean. I checked that bike out a little while back and it looked like a decent package for light touring.

In any case, hang around and see if the S10 is your next bike. I'm sure we'll be getting lots more in-depth coverage come May.

Welcome to the forum. You might try to OM forum member Ollie, who is also from Louisville. He may be coming up to Litchfield IL this next week to see our Super Tenere display. You two might be able to hook up and come up together.

My buddy hopes to use his as an all-around, run-around bike. He is retired and has 4 bikes in his stable, counting the NT.

He is all ready starting his list of planned farkles!!!

:D

I'm in Louisville too and on the fence about buying a Tenere, mostly because I need to sell 2 bikes first.
A 2007 1250 Bandit and a 2003 SV1000 Suzuki.
I dont think I'll be going up to Leitchfield but I am hoping to go to one of the International Motorcycle Shows this winter.

Welcome to the forum keeponriding.I sold the only NT700 our shop has moved, nice bike but a little over priced. We ordered 2 Raven`s ,one is mine, one is still open.If you want to put youn name on a early order XT1200 give Abernathy,s a call-1-731-885-3626,ask for Tim or Curtis. They are a discount dealer so the price will be very good.I`m in west Tennessee about 4 to 5 hours from you.Give them a call or check the web at abernathysonline.com.Tell them Jimmy sent you.

Thanks for the welcome....doing a deal with Abernathy's sounds inviting, except I have to do a trade-in on my NT....which might be difficult, given the distance.

Today should be relatively not-freezing (high of 35), day before a big snow is due...I'm thinking of taking my bike over to my local dealer and putting down a deposit, plus working out the trade on my NT. It is a good bike, and as they weren't moving very fast, I got a good deal on it (both in price and financing) and frankly, was what I was looking for.

Nice combination touring and daily jaunt bike, easy to push around the garage and no maintenance. I spent too many years riding a certain American brand needing to carry a full set of tools in the saddle bags.

Other than that, how did you like your Harley? :D

(not trying to start a HD bashing thread - just kidding of course)

Ya know...I spent my first 20 years on MCs riding them, starting with a 150 they imported in late 60s, owned four different ones over the years. Can't beat them on the freeway or those long sweepers above the Pacific Ocean....they were also a great way to meet new friends...of the female variety....sold my last one 18 years ago when I owed a hefty co-pay for my son's birth. Replaced them with a BMW K100...it was like stepping up from a 1967 GTO to a ....well, BMW 5 series....never looked back. Since then it's been a succession of Sport-Tourers....

One thing I can say for the brand, I never lost money selling a Harley!
