Checking in from Western Kentucky. I rode a Goldwing for the last few years and after selling it I ended up with an FJR this Spring. I didn't get along very well with the FJR so as a previous GS12 rider, I paid a few visits to some BMW dealers. The more I looked at the BMW prices, the more interested I got in the Teners. I rode down to Abernathys a couple of weeks ago and sat on the Tenere and liked what I saw. I pointed out the FJR in the parking lot and asked them how they would trade. As usual with Abernathys, they were easy to get along with, so an hour later I rode off on a Gray 13 model. It was about a half of mile to the first stop light and I knew I liked the Super T by the time the light caught me. I really liked my GS, but I think I will like the Tenere just as well and smile when I think about the five grand less it cost me.

While I was at Abernathys I ran into one of the guys from this forum, The Round One. He hung around while they were prepping the bike and put me through Tenere school. I had read a lot about the Tenere and the Round One filled in a lot blanks I had. very nice guy.

I have one question about the Jesse 45L top box. Does it come with some kind of quick disconnect or does it bolt on? In others words, is it easy to get off and on?

PM when you're ready ride some time. I live just south of Murray and ride a fair bit. So far, 25k+ on my Tenere in the 13 months that I've had it. I go to a lot of events and ride 12 months out of the year.

It is the best bike that I have ever owned. Freedom to explore most any road that I want to. Farkle for comfort and enjoy!

It's hard to get away from work in the Summer months, plus I hate riding in hot weather, so I usually take a long trip in the Fall. I'll take 40* over 90* anytime, but it's all about humidity too. 90* on a humid day in KY can be unbearable, while 90* in a dry area feels great. I rode up to Deadhorse back in 06 and going back has been on my mind lately, so I'm going to deck the Tenere out for a trip up North just in case. !!!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new bike.

Several of us that can't make the Big Tenere gathering in Ouray next week will be at the MSTA national rally in Lexington. If you have time, stop by and say hello, or join us for the event. Info here: http://ridemsta.com/star-2013

Ok, I hope that you can make it. If you come during the day, you won't see many bikes around as most will be out riding the KY twisties they have mapped out for us. In the evening, however, there will be about 500 bikes in the lot, with lots of kicking lies and telling tires going on. ;D
