I ride a 2007 Honda ST1300(A). While riding in Newfoundland in August, I met a BC rider on an older model BMWR1100GS who had just ridden the Labrador highway (or whatever it is called). Although I still love my (trouble free) ST, because of that chance meeting, and further because I ran into more gravel/sand/junk roads this summer than I have in past trips, I began thinking about acquiring a (or another?) bike which may more easily handle those more problematic conditions. Having owned Yamahas in the past (beginning in 1964 with my first bike - a Yamaha 80cc YG1), I began looking at the Super Tenere and then stumbled onto this forum. It is my belief that the best way to evaluate the pros and cons of a machine is by listening to those who own and ride them. I joined this forum for that very purpose.

Welcome aboard and I'm sure you will find what you are looking for here. Mostly all owners here with a handful of wannabes thrown into the mix. A bunch of current or previous ST1100/1300 owners here as well (myself included).

Welcome aboard. I switched to the XTZ12 from my ST1300 for similar reasons. The big sport tourers are very nice but really turn into a handful on gravel roads.

I've only done a couple miles of gravel so far on the Yamaha but that went well and I am confident it will be right for my plans.

I hope you find what you are looking for here.

Welcome to the crowd. I recently sold an ST 1300. It is in a class all by itself, and is silky smooth as compared to the Tenere. The motor of the Tenere is taking some adjustment, and is not in the same category as the ST. The tenere so far is proving to be a great bike though, for different reasons. I am not sure if I like the traction control yet, as I like to feel the wheel moving consistently under me. I like the bike best with the TC off, and wish it stayed there and would only use it for limited use. The touring mode is nice for conserving fuel, and the sport mode is great for getting on it. The TC off and in the sport mode is the way the bike is the funnest too me. Hard to compare the two, as I like qualities about both of them. If it were just street use, the ST would have my vote.

Welcome Still a Badger! Hope you find what you’re looking for in the Forum…a lot of information has developed in here since the bikes started showing up in July.

Welcome Still A Badger! I'm in Florida, too. I moved to the S10 from the Kawy Concours C10. 200 more cc's with the S10 with about the same mpg and much less vibration. Major plus is that the S10 comes standard with linked ABS. If you initiate braking with the front brake, it feeds in rear braking and keeps it from skidding. I got caught in many major downpours here in Florida on my C10 and braking was always a frightening proposition, but not anymore.

I don't know of any Florida dealers that have any of these babies, and a very few select dealers nation wide just might still have one available, so if you don't decide to take the plunge very very soon, you'll have to wait for the next round.

My sales guy at Barney’s Brandon told me that they have a raven on floor in their Brooksville, Florida store.
