Hi everyone, I am a new owner of my first street bike a 2012 S10. So far I couldn't be and happier. Bought it used with under 3,000 miles on it from a forum member. He took great care of it and that made the 600 mile trip worth it!!! Been riding around Pinellas county so far getting use to traffic. Installed AltRider Crash bars and Rox Risers last night, they look and work great! Looking forward to getting out on the road more and more, would really like to do something long distance this summer.

Welcome, Charlie. Good choice on bike and color! What led you to choose the S10 as your 1st street bike? And which member is no longer with us? Lucky you and I feel for the poor guy that had to sell.

I bought the bike from KLRKID in Tennessee, found it for sale here on the forum after lurking around for many months. "What led you to choose the S10 as your 1st street bike?" Lots of reasons.....I have been riding Motocross since my teens and on and off in my 30's and 40's....im 50 this year. All that experience has built a strong desire to ride gravel/dirt roads and progress to tougher off-road trips later on. I was wrapped up for nearly 10 years as my son raced Motocross here in Florida. As his time racing came to a close (Broken arms, collar bones, concussions, Broken femur, dislocated shoulder) I found myself wanting to travel on a bike. I've always like the look of the BMW's so when I had the chance (3) times, I rented F800's and had a blast. I rode in NC and Colorado..... Read about all sorts of issues and eventually read about the S10, with nearly no issues. I had never heard or seen one on the road! I did rent a Harley (Dyna) twice, but found that just not my type of bike. I'm learning to ride in traffic, but the bike itself has been easy to ride. Even though its bigger and heavier than the F800, It feels lighter and easier to ride and balance.

You describe yourself, historically, as someone I believe is a prime candidate for this machine.

Promise yourself you WILL take a couple of long road/off-road journeys. This machine can deliver like few can, in that scenario.

Welcome!
