Hello from west central Florida!
I've actually been here for a couple of weeks but, am just getting around to saying howdy.
I don't have an S10 yet but hope to soon. Originally, an S10 was my second or third choice becuse I thought they were too heavy compared to a 990Adv.
Which, I was sure was going to be my next bike. I started riding off-road about 10 years ago on a KTM and love them.
But, there are a lot of factors that play into this decision and a plentiful dealer network is a big plus for buying a Yamaha. For example, my nearest KTM dealer (for the big bikes) is about 100 miles away. Within that same 100 miles there are about 8 Yamaha dealers.
Then, about a month ago I was at the Tampa Auto Show and out of the corner of my eye I saw this "blue thing". I knew from the color exactly what is was.
I spun around and made a bee line over to this shiny blue 2012 S10. I talked to the Yamaha rep for several minutes and then made the mistake(?) of sitting on the bike. After seeing one in person for the first time, I have a totally different impression of the bike. In a good way.
So, as soon as I'm able, a test ride at his dealership seems in order. I can't wait.
I went from a KTM 200EXC to a DRZ 400S to a KLR and hopefully an S10 in the near future.
I've already gleened a ton of great information from this forum and troll regularly thoughout the day.
Thanks to all you friendly folks out there for sharing your expertise and experience. The trip reports are fantastic too.
Lunch is over, I've gotta get back to work.
Ride safe everyone.
Dave
