Hey guys,

Last time I was on the forum was about three years ago when I was looking for info on a Tenere and can't remember if I ever did an introduction. Didn't buy a Tenere (or any other bike) due to something that came up.

3 years later the wife and I are settled into Alaska and I'm finally ready to pull the trigger. I'm about 90% sold on a GEN 2 ES Tenere, and it's down to the ST or an 1190r...two very different bikes, I know. Anyways, looking forward to meeting y'all, and exhausting the search function before asking dumb and annoying questions >:D

Welcome (back).

I have fond memories of eating lunch while watching the seaplanes takeoff and land on Lake Hood. I hope to make it back there sometime.

Welcome!

Lived in Fairbanks for many years. A great way to meet many long time riders in Alaska and thr Yukon is to attend Dust- 2-Dawson in Dawson City on 16-17 June. Here is all the info you will need (http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/2016-dust-2-dawson-sign-up-thread-read-1st-post-before-posting.1115559/). I post as KHuddy over there. If you have questions there is a question and comment thread at (http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/d2d-2016-general-info-and-comment-thread-read-the-first-post.1115560/) or you can PM me here or there. Good luck with your ne S10.

Welcome on, i-guy. I'm just south of Whitehorse. As you may know already, there is an outstanding Yamaha dealer here in Whitehorse. Right on the highway. I have camping room and can provide a garage, water, cooking facilities, and if it's really nasty, a warm, dry place to sleep.

In fairness, I should tell you that the Honda dealer here is also a KTM dealer, and they are a good bunch as well.

All Tenere's welcome, and I've been known to allow the occasional KTM, as long as you're accompanied by an adult. ::025:: ::015:: Welcome to the Tenere group .... I hope. R ::003::

Thanks rem. Didn't consider a Canadian dealer. Can a bike bought in Canada be imported into Alaska?

Sorry, i-g ..... my response was confusing. I meant if you had any problems with the bike or needed parts. No, the warranty does not follow the bike if purchased in Canada and you take it back to the U. S .. plus there is a bit of paperwork involved. If you buy it here, you will lose the warranty in the U. S. Some guys have done it, but they basically do all their own work on their bikes. I don't recommend it, but that would be up to you. It certainly is possible. The local dealer here, Yukon Yamaha, would help you out any way they could if a warranty issue arose. And they have tires, misc. parts, clothing, etc. They are a good bunch.

Hospitality at the Chateau Remo would be free, so cross border stuff would be no issue. Hope to see you at some point. Feel free to contact me at hollywolly1@mac.com if you're heading this way. R ::008::
