Hello, I'm Mark
Traded my 2010 ST1300 for a new leftover 2013 Super Tenere. I was looking at the Tiger 800 xcx but the STen seemed like a better value and the price I got was amazing! I have mostly a dirt riding background with everything from observed trials, MX and Desert. I have had a dozen or so street bikes along the way as well as dual sport bikes. I'm 6'-2" 225 so the Tenere fits me well and I'm very impressed with the first 800 miles so far on the first week. I've been lurking around the forum for a while and got some great info from here.

Thanks

It can add up pretty quick, but once you get it where you want it, it will be time to get a new one... ::025:: I had a 2012 and when the 2014 ES came out, I just moved it all over and kept riding....

Welcome Mark. Good choice with the Tenere.

For the past three years I have been trying to catch a train in the Tehachapi Loop. Just a matter of chance.

Do yourself a favor and look into changing the Cam Chain Tensioner to the new 2014 part number..

What windshield are you looking for?

You shouldn't have to wait long for a train....seems like a busy pass, I see them alot when I pass through. As far as the CCT I plan on doing that and the Clutch basket when the Warranty Period is nearly expired. I can hear the cam chain slapping and when I roll on the throttle I can already feel the clutch vibes....if I put slight pressure on the clutch lever at a 3500 RPM roll on (not enough to let it slip) the bike smooths out considerably. Looking forward to those upgrades, I just don't want to void the warranty doing them now.

Hello and welcome from another newbie. What panniers did you install?
I just did the OEM ones. I like the simple brackets that look OK with the bags off and the ignition key opens them. (used locktite)

Found a Blemished Piug for cheap (I like the looks of it) to try out....If that doesn't do it I may try the mid size Sport touring V-stream. had one on my ST1300 and it worked very well.

You might ask your dealer if they are aware of the CCT issue. Maybe they will report yours as needing to be replaced with the 2014 CCT.

I have a OEM Tall Windshield if you are interested. You pay the shipping.

Good idea with the CCT, I will discuss it with them. Thank you for the offer on the windscreen...I ordered a Puig because it looks nice and I'm prepared to mount it with a Madstad if it does not work as advertised. Maybe I will see you in the Sierras this summer....I plan to spend some time up there on the Tenere.

::004:: from London, Ontario, Canada, the (very) frozen Great White North, eh! I now have both the 2014 cam chain tensioner and the upgraded 2014 clutch basket installed in my 2012. Very sweet running, smooth machine.

Enjoy your Super Ten. You live in an ideal part of the world for it! ::008::

Cheers,

Bruce
