Have been looking at this jacket and was wondering if you guys would have an answer to the following question (I know I could contact Held)
The pockets and also the zipflap are held open with magnets. All very well, but could they affect my credit cards etc which I tend to keep in my wallet in a breast pocket. Probably worrying over nothing (first worldproblems and all that......) more curious than worried.
Cheers
Rob

First point is that if a magnet is able to demagnetize the strip you still have the chip which is more widely used anyway, right?
Secondly, it's not necessarily the strength of the magnet but the right amount of exposure and direction to a very small degree. Yes, continual contact will eventually wipe the strip, just like an eel leather wallet do the same.

Not all cards in the states have the chip. I think it's mandatory starting in 2016. Worse yet, most retailers don't have the equipment to read the chips and the ones who do never seem to be working.

I should have mentioned universal chip , 'apart' from the US, however, the father inlaw managed to get one for their last trip as a lot of places in Europe (unmanned gas stations) have only chip readers.......
