so i finally got the yammy headlight guard from yamabits in the UK. it's a peculiar setup in that i've never had a headlight guard that attaches using robber grommets. it appears it will hold up well, but time will tell. i like it. here are a couple of pics...
Mine has been on for several days and about 300 miles, not an exhuastive evaluation but there it is. I have not noticed any flopping around due to the rubber grommets. There are some reflections near the upper mounts. But it does not bother me asmyou have to look at it to see it.

I ordered from Yamabits on Aug 23rd and got the guard Sept 13. It was cheaper than ordering from Canada as near as I could tell.

So what is the headlight lens made of and how easy does it break? What does it cost to replace?
it appears to be lexan - plastic. i'm not sure if you can order just the plastic part, but the entire assembly will cost you about $130. ouch, but potentially worth it.

$130 sounds cheap to me, after the F650 GS fiasco, one of the reasons I'm not likely to buy another BMW. Sounds like maybe the big risk isn't so much breaking the lens outright, as accumulated pitting and wear over time? Our plastic lens on the RT's have shown a bit of that at 50K miles, but I think they are good to at least 100k miles. They've taken a few good rock blows without breaking.

Anyone ever break a Tenere headlight lens?

Jason, I like that OEM headlight guard once I choke down the price of it. I am sure Cee Bailey will eventually have a cover held on with 3M dual locs but the OEM looks mucho better I am thinking. What windscreen are you using? I've got the Wasp bracket and still experimenting with it and the stock screen & hoping it will do the job for cold weather riding but if not may go with Calsci medium.

i'm sticking with the stock screen so far. i really don't want a big ol' barn door in front of me because i like the wind about me, but i see the need for a bit more wind deflection. a laminar lip or some other deflectors may be required. for now, that's a low priority. as the weather gets colder, that priority will change. :)
