Headlight Guard causing overheating and bulb failure????

Anyone have any insight into the correlation, if any, between headlight guards and bulb failure. I ask because I have had two OEM failures in the last two weeks. Bike is a 2014 ES with 36,000 kms. I added a Cee Bailey plastic guard this spring. I am now wondering if the guard causes the headlight housing to run hotter leading to bulb failure. Thoughts? David

I doubt the Cee Bailey guard had anything to do with your headlights burning out, i own the same guards but only used them on my Alaska trip, it very common for both bulbs to burn out near the same time, they are rated for a certain number of hours, some bulbs last longer some shorter, rough terrain probably makes them burnout sooner especially if you use the higher dollar higher output bulbs, they use thinner wires inside the bulb.

Both my bulbs burned out whithin 1000 miles or so at around 22,000 miles. I was kind of surprised by the not great life, but no big deal in money or time to replace. I see no need to run aftermarket gaurds, so this on the factory setup. I doubt covering plastic with another layer of plastic did any change to life of the bulbs.

Both lamps are likely to burn out within a short time of each other, as they have both operated for the same amount of time and their life time is finite.
