After an unscheduled stopover in Seattle to fix a medical issue, I should be ready to head out tomorrow. Hoebster is helping me fit a tire in the morning, so I'll make a few miles in the afternoon, looking for a good place to camp or some cheap accommodation. Any recommendations? Doesn't really matter which direction but probably not north - and only needs to be 100 or 200 miles, since it will be my first day out after getting rid of a kidney stone...

thanks!

Dcstrom,

You aren't from here? Hoebster brought his bike over to show me his mega-farkling. WOW! Mine feels so naked and untouched.
Weather tomorrow is going to be great. A bit chilly in the morning but perfect for the afternoon.
There are really 3 "big rides" out of Seattle ... and that is debatable (that there aren't more or these are the only three).
1) Do the quintessential ride on #20 over the North Cascades. Considered one of the best rides in the State by many. Overnight in Winthrop or Lake Chelan and come back by Hwy#2 over Stevens Pass. Maybe go up to Omak and come down through Grand Coulee and Coulee City. Unbelieveable scenery and change in topography. If you want to see the awful fires, go over Blewitt (#97) to I-90. Unbelievable. Went through there last week. Flames right down to the highway. Awful, really.
2) Do the loop around Mt. Rainier, going clockwise from Enumclaw. Make sure you go up Sunrise and Paradise. This is really only a day trip. Head down to Mt. St. Helens and Windy Ridge (this is also considered one of the best twisties in the State).
3) Head out to the Olympic Peninsula. Take the Edmunds ferry to Kingston (motorcycles get to go to the front of the line) and go towards Port Angeles. Make sure you go up Hurricane Ridge. THE BEST twisty in the state. Go back down and by Crescent Lake, Forks (yeah, that movie place) and overnight at Kalaloch Lodge. There are lots of camping sites on the West Coast and it is off season, so there should be lots of space. Loop around the next day to Shelton and go up to Hood Canal and follow that North back to Kingston Ferry.
Plenty of variations to the above, but choose any one of those and you won't be disappointed. I am from the East and been here 17 years, but this State still blows me away.

Thanks mate, seems to be some good options there. HoebSTer will fill me in on some other details, I'm sure.

No, not from here, my first visit. Heading sth and into Mexico next month.

After DC changed his tire at my house, I rode with him down through Greenwater towards MT. Rainier on his way towards Paradise. I too mentioned this to him as a good choice, then on towards Mt. St. Helens. I didn't have time to go into Rainier NP, but had a good 100 mile ride with him. Good luck on your trip DC - Trevor!!!

DC contact me if you are coming to Northern California. Might be able meet you for a ride or two.

Well, you can't beat that ride in that weather, especially if heading south was the goal. Hope DC did Windy Ridge! An awesome ride.
