They replace a sub harness to the headlights with a thicker gauged wire. It's about a half hour fix on the s10. You should get a letter from Yamaha. I haven't received mine yet. Waiting patiently.

Any idea how much parts/plastic removal is involved? My local Yamaha dealer sucks in the wrenching department, so I'm wondering if I have something to lose sleep over.

I looked over a pdf file of the repair, and it's easy. Right side panel, windscreen, headlight trim, and headlight assembly removed. Then pull the sub harness. I share your concern though. No one has touched my bike except me, and i have a hard time handing it over to my dealer to have this recall performed. Whether it's cars, home repairs, or whatever, I always check over people's work. And sadly I find mistakes 90% of the time. I will let them do the recall, but will disassemble it when I get it back and check EVERYTHING. I am the definition of OCD...

Got my recall notice and the dealer ordered in the parts, I just need to find the time to go in and get it fixed.

Finally got mine done, the bike having crash bars seemed to through the dealer and took over 2 hrs to do the job as both side panels had to come off to remove the head light? Dont ask me why when loosening but not removing the LH works just as well. Much muttering about Yamaha only paying for 36mins as the assume a bare bike as supplied. So 6 weeks of phone calls to dealer and Yamaha have finally got the job done. Memories of BMW here, mmmmmmmmmm

The side panels aren't that hard to remove, even with crash bars installed.

Tucson riders wanted

I am reaching out to members who are from Tucson in an effort to find other S10ners looking to ride. I enjoy riding on and off road. Twisties, dirt, and back roads. Haven't learned to enjoy the sand yet but working in it  let me know if you are interested in meeting others to ride with.

Steve,

I think you are shooting in the dark posting this question in this thread.
You may want to start a new thread and ask, I am sure some folks will want to hook up and have a cup of coffee and get to know each other before tearing up the trails..

Try posting in Events / Regional Forums south western location..

Do I need to worry about the harness if I just picked up my bike?
If 2014, no.

If 2012 or 2013 ... in theory no, because the dealer should have complied with the recall prior to delivering the bike to you. However, if I were in your shoes, I'd make a call to the dealer to verify whether the recall has been complied with.

Rotortech, where to get the PDF? I have the wiring harness and will be doing the job myself...
